*The Nags head healthy eating group*

This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

ROFLMAO Golfi -

Just weighed an egg sized new pot - about 75g, so 6 would be 450 = 4.5 WW points (450 cal)?

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

I could be wrong as I'm not sure of the exact way in converting points to calories.

Are you doing WW or similar or just calorie counting?

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Going to my weigh in shortly - dreading it.

Not been able to get out and about for 8 weeks. Only managed to get there once in that time - 4 weeks ago and I'd lost 3.5lbs in that time.

As long as I've not put more than that back on I'll be reasonably happy!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

100g potato = 1 point!
In a calorie book I have, it says that boiled potatoes are 75 cals per 100g.
Ham is really low Golfi' it's only 1 point per (35g) slice! (81 cals per 35g).
Did you have 1 slice or 6? lol
Even for your 6 potatoes & say, 2 slices of ham with salad, you only had a total of 6.5-7 points!
That's great Golfi',
I was using more points than that, for my peanut butter on toast!
Hmmmmmm 6 new potatoes, ham & salad for me tomorrow!.
That's worth 7 points in my book lol.
So far today I have had 19 points!
& have done loads of walking around the zoo!
call it 18! lol

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Back from weigh in - not as bad as I thought!

3.5 lbs off! - making a total of 20.5 lbs lost.

Only 3 lbs until I get into my "target weight" allowance and 11 lbs till I hit goal.

It's great knowing I'm more than 1/2 way there.

Hi Lynne - I found that people started noticing when I got to a stone too. Well done.

Can you imagine carrying all that extra weight around now - I don't know how I did it!

Hi Lily at the group i go to our leader took in a
pound of animal fat from the butchers, it really drives home to you what you are actually losing.
I see you like WW bread its known as cloud in our house as its so light.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Lynne - which WW bread are you eating? I've found the malted one really nice but can't stand the white or brown.

Our leader did that with the lard as well - to show that even if you just loose 1/2 lb a week, it's still a slab of fat.

Can you imagine sticking those 28 slabs on you!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Golfi - at 5'9 your weight range (to have a BMI of 20 - 25) is 9st 9lbs to 12st 1lb so there is no way you need to loose any.

I really wouldn't worry too much, maybe just keep an eye on what you are eating so you don't have to worry about putting any on.

If it were me (wishful thinking!), I'd just make sure I was eating healthily ie low fat spread/marg etc. Low fat sauces and plenty of fruit and veg.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Can I ask how much it costs to go to WW meetings? I was just on the website and read about the online service, which sounds good to me as I'll be moving in a month's time. They want £10 a month, which is ok. But the first month costs £40, which is far too much. Are the meetings any cheaper? Or should I just look out for one of those coupons you see in the paper offering free registration?

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Don't know about WW, but Slimming World is £3.95 a week.

I see it as a cheap night out, cheaper than going to the pub and I've made some nice friends there.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

#558

Hi, first week in Weight Watchers it is £12.50 to join which gets you your information pack. £5.00 per week thereafter. Probably is a bit expensive for a student, but well worth it when you think of the weight you can lose and people you can share your experiences with.

Going to WW meeting tonight "fingers crossed".
