*The Nags head healthy eating group*

This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi again!
Had to laugh last week, we usually get a take-away every friday & I thought i'd be good & get a healthier, lower pointed substitute!
Instead of having something from the local indian (with hubz), I decided to opt' for my own version (better I thought!).
Armed with a tin of curry (asda) & a packet of express rice I made my mild curry & vegetable pillau! Mmmmmmmm
It was lovely & felt good that I had made the effort to have a healthier option!...........................NOT!!
For when I totalled the points up (afterwards lol) it came to 17 POINTS!!!!!!
Big mistake not to check first!
I would have been better off joining hubz & ordering my normal munch out (@ only 12 points).
Wont do that again! pmsl
Please make sure you check what you are eating BEFORE the damage is done!
As I will in future. lol
Still had a good loss so it wasn't the end of the world, just shows you though that some foods are less points than you think & some are more!
Keep that points book/calculator handy!
It's vital!
See you soon
:o)

Ooh lordy, I wouldn't want to be in the mag, no way! Besides, don't you need 6 'before' photos for them? I have about two - ran away from camers for years while fat 😉

#294, Lynne I was sure that she was wrong drawing attention to the people with good weight loss.
If anyone minds they dont say so, just me being bit shy
I suppose. She is very encouraging and jolly with it.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Morning!

I made a lovely bacon and mushroom pasta sauce last night; here is the recipe 🙂

2 small onions, finely chopped
15 closed cup mushrooms, chopped (don't know weight, sorry!)
4 bacon loins*, finely chopped
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp tarragon
A little water
Vegetable stock cube
2 tbsp sour cream

Dry fry the onions and mushrooms for 3 minutes
Add bacon and fry until bacon is cooked through
Add paprika, tarragon, stock cube and water
Simmer for 10 minutes, adding more water if it boils dry
Stir in sour cream just before serving with pasta

Mmmm, delicious!! This serves two and is 2 points per serving. Yummy. (Remember to add the extra points for the pasta though!)

*Bacon loin: normal bacon but with the rind and thin fatty end bit cut off. You can get the from Safeway or Asda or just cut the fat off normal bacon.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Tonight I had......

griddled piri-piri chicken, jacket potato, grated cheese & baked beans!

Mmmmmmm

All for just 11 points!
(9pt's without the cheese or without the beans)
& I couldn't even finish it!
LOL!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

A plain chicken salad (at McD's) is about 4.5 points!
Thats without the sauce!
If your having the salad dressing on it you might as well have a big mac for 9 points! lol

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting in the Nag's Head (or anywhere). Over the last few days I have been reading your posts and you are all great. This is my eighth week with Weight Watchers and have lost 10.5 lbs so far. Feel really great. Have had a few hiccups, used far too many points, but always manage to pull back. Even went away for a few days over Easter, out every night, cooked breakfasts delivered to room (and still lost ½ lb at meeting). I like this diet so much because if you break you can always make it up. I've also started walking everywhere which I really enjoy. If anyone has any interesting recipes I would be grateful as I seem to make the same meals every week. I also think it is a great idea to have someone join WW with you as giving each other support is a brilliant help.

Big Thumbs Up to this Thread and well done to everyone who sticks to their healthy eating plans!!!!!

xx

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi redmary, well done on your weight loss. Its taken me a couple of weeks to get into WW eating habits as I used to do slimming world and its a totally different eating
plan.
My daughter makes no point soup, before she blizzes it she saves some of the veg to eat with pasta or in a jacket spud. The soups are lovely.
