ARE MENTORS PAID BY EBAY FOR BACKING THEM UP ?
Yet again I am reading replies from Ebay Mentors which in my experience are simply not true.
I am starting to wonder if these mentors are being paid by Ebay to support them no matter what. Like the way some people are paid and receive free goods to give positive reviews.
One of the many posts about sellers not being paid raises the question of feedback - surely if a buyer leaves positive feedback that is an admission that they have received the item especially if they go into some detail mentioning the item and saying things like fits perfectly or works exactly as it should. How could someone leave a hundred word positive feedback by mistake ?.
Also as I reported on here one Seller was told by Ebay that if tracking does not shows as delivered and if the buyer does not click on the received icon then the buyer will automatically be refunded without question this getting to keep the item and get a refund.
As I have read from other Ebay Mentors this one says :
Experienced Mentor
"Feedback is entirely voluntary, can be left in error, and is not evidence that an item has arrived,
As explained succinctly in the email, if tracking shows delivery, your payment will be available to withdraw 48 hours later.
No tracking (or, no updated tracking proving delivery), your payment will be available to wirhdraw after 14 days."
That statement is not true,or at least in my case it is not true. The 5 items I sold after 4th February were all sent by a tracked mail service, were all marked as delivered on tracking, were all marked as delivered on the orders page but I HAVE RECEIVED £ ZERO. I am now having to cancel orders as I cannot keep sending stuff out at my expense and get no payment.
10 days on from this no payout for any of them. When I go into my account it shows " Total funds" and an amount = what I should have received for sales but then above that it shows "ebay balance" £0.00. During my frequent contact with Customer Services they just say that I have been paid and that is the end of the conversation. My bank account statements show that no money has been paid to me from Ebay.
Why do Ebay Customer Services no have access to the payout records of buyers ?. As I get the impressions they can only see what I can see.
If I filer the results of my sales to "pending" it shows there are no orders pending - SO WHERE IS MY MONEY ? WHERE IS OUR MONEY ?.

As you can see from my tag, I'm not a Mentor. I'm just the one that caught your *** in your last thread. The one where you quoted another seller, but was actually your post on a different thread.
It would help your case if you didn't lie in ways that were so easy to catch.
As for the Mentors getting paid, no idea, but I seriously doubt it as this forum is technically supposed to be independent from eBay, why the forum moderators work for KH.

No, Mentors are not paid. It's just a tag - like yours in 'Engager' and mine is 'Advisor'.
It is just a tag that enables them to answer questions on the 'quick answer' board (Member to Member).
They have no extra insight into eBay than the rest of us do, they do have quite a bit of experience though, and they offer this freely to help others. (They may, like the rest of us have a bad day and be a bit crotchety sometimes - usually when answering the same question for the zillionth time, or when someone is rude to them!).
Instead of payment they get some thanks (occasionally) and an awful lot of criticism/moans, usually from posters that do nothing helpful on the boards, like answer other's queries, but seem to be fixated with the 'Mentor' tag.

adding to what's already been said -
Do tell as to when was the last time you knew a buyer to "click on the received icon"?

I can honestly say that the Ferrari gift at Christmas has no bearing on the kind of answers I give.
I don't like the colour anyway.

Sheesh. We'll need to return them as not as described.
Did you get the cerulean blue fluffy steering wheel cover I asked for as well, only that was missing?

You didn't have a "click on the received icon" option?

They do toe the corporate line and that quite clearly rubs some people the wrong way, feel free to ignore them as they have no jurisdiction on the actual platform.
I do find it funny that some of them don't even use the platform that often though having sleuthed thier accounts as they so often like to do for other members, and yet donate so much free time for absolutely nothing in return.
I'm always going to find it absurd that people work FOR FREE for billion dollar corporations (community notes on social media being another example).

Why do you think that mentors don't use the eBay platform? Of course they have to be active members or they wouldn't be allowed to be mentors.

The way I work is that I'll offer some of my time for free and some will be monetised. And the Ferrari isn't that bad, tbh.

Yep, that's the one, it's making my drive look cluttered and untidy !
NAD on its way.

If your interactions are monitised why didn't you offer that up for transparency in your first reply to this thread instead of making a joke about a Ferrari?
Your account doesn't really create a picture of an experienced active member over the last 18 years, certainly not in the past year at least. I know you give good advice and know the ins and outs of the business though. Unless you have other accounts of course, probably private, trading as a business haha 😉

"The way I work is that I'll offer some of my time for free and some will be monetised."
Many thanks @*vyolla* for confirming that Mentors do get paid for their time spent helping out on this forum. I was previously told a few years ago that it was all voluntary but a gift was received at Christmas as a thank you from ebay for the time spent helping on the forum.
This has long been something I've wondered about as who would dedicate some much of their life/time on this forum if it was totally free. It also somewhat explains the tendency I've noticed of Mentors to defend ebay beyond what would be considered normal but as they are paid, this now makes sense.

Monetised on other sites, eBay don't pay mentors.

I was replying to the person that asked that. The "... Whoosh... means I think the sarcasm went straight past their head.

Ye gods, eBay doesn't pay mentors. I work for other consumer sites, they pay me.
This account is a posting ID.
Yes, I have other accounts, both private and business.
