It’s been a busy couple of months for eBay as we have been travelling across the UK — from Sheffield, Salford and Newcastle to Glasgow, Norwich, Leicester and Reading — on our first ever eBay Business Roadshow.

Supported by Small Business Britain and British Chambers of Commerce, the Roadshow is perfect for those looking to launch their business idea or grow an existing business on eBay.

Designed to help small businesses gain new skills, expertise and funding, it’s geared towards helping business owners not just survive, but thrive during these challenging times. Each event includes content dedicated to helping you start, scale and share your eBay business, as well as providing inspiration from local entrepreneurs, appearances from special guests, networking opportunities and dedicated 1:1 support from our marketplace advisors.

Here’s a snapshot of the informative sessions our roadshows have included to-date:

Sustainability Basics for Small Businesses

Ciaran Armstrong from Sustainable Pathways and Adam Bastock from Small99 host an informative session on all things sustainability. Based on the highly sought after Sustainability Basics course delivered by Small Business Britain and Oxford Brookes Business School, they cover two key areas. Firstly, they discuss the ‘why’ — providing context around the importance of why sellers should incorporate sustainability into their business pillars. This is then followed by an exploration of ‘how’ they can practically make their business sustainable, also looking at ways to shift your mindset in order to perceive sustainability as an investment, rather than a burden or unnecessary cost. This is certainly not a masterclass to be missed!

Small Business Seller Panel

Inspirational small business owners from the local area discuss everything from how they got started on, and use, eBay to what has helped them grow and how they navigate societal, economic and environmental challenges. They also share any tips they have for businesses who are looking to expand their reach and presence, with attendees having the opportunity to take part in a live Q&A with the small business owners at the end of the panel.

You can also book 1:1 slots with our eBay Marketplace Advisors. As part of the Roadshow, eBay has also launched a grants and support package programme. We understand the impact that rising inflation costs and lasting impacts of COVID-19 has had on all businesses. As a result of this, eBay has invested over £1 million to ensure skills and funding can continue to be provided to help businesses thrive.

Therefore, all attendees of our eBay Business Roadshow will get the chance to apply for a business grant (up to £5000) or support package worth up to £1,000.

During our journey across the UK, we have been conducting seller surveys after each event to gain valuable feedback from attendees. Results so far reveal that 93% of attendees found the eBay roadshows very useful, while over 80% would highly recommend this event to someone who has a small business.

The jam-packed agenda will see us continue our journey on the road over the coming months, to visit the following cities:

  • Southend on Sea: 8th September 2022
  • Plymouth: 13th October 2022
  • Cardiff: 17th November 2022
  • Bristol: 12th January 2023
  • Belfast: 2nd February 2023
