eBay are advertising a job vacancy for a Senior Product Manager who will build the next generation of their Selling Guidance Delivery Platform. They say that “this platform delivers critical insights to sellers like what kinds of inventory they should source, how they should price it to be competitive and how they improve their overall listing to improve conversion and sales”.

Lol, maybe...
I wouldn't hesitate to employ you two, but would definitely hesitate before applying for that job - sorry! 😄
Exactly how popular do you think the person telling us how to do our jobs will be?! 😛

They could try Mr Blobby - haven't seen him around in a while but he'd make a job of it.

I have a ECDL in computers so do you think I'm qualified?

You bet! And me too! I'm fully qualified with my 'O' levels, ECDL and having been a seller for more than 5 mins.

How very typical that Ebay manages to include a glaring glitch within two paragraphs of this job advert. Very impressive.
Perhaps Ebay should be advertising for a proof reader.

Interesting. Setting aside the discussion board entertainment value from this vacancy, it's an indication that ebay are investing with a goal - basically - of helping sellers sell more; i.e. "eBay's Selling Platform Team’s goal is to enable our 25M+ sellers to start, manage and grow their business on eBay efficiently." That's a worthwhile goal for them to have and a good use of funds isn't it? And, look: The first-listed responsibility in this job is "Engage with sellers to understand customer needs, growth blockers and appropriate ways to deliver various insights to meet their needs."
Of course, it's possible they'll do a bad job of trying to meet the goal. They might make things worse, get it wrong, or just spend a lot of money and make no difference to anything. That can happen in any business, but on the whole surely one has to see this more good news than bad?
One other thing caught my eye here is that the ad confirms ebay's global seller population is around 25 million. That's a VERY large number of sellers chasing a buyer pool of (something like) 170 million buyers. No wonder competition is tough.

Judging by some of the idiotic decisions made by eBay for its UK customers, I would say you are over-qualified by a long way ... I'm not even kidding!
