Evri via packlink wrongly charged

After years of no problems i am being charged £3.18 frequently for items well under 1kg with claims they are at least 1240g which is wrong as i have started double checking on checked scales.

Will no longer use Evri as it means i'm selling at a loss.

The trackng number doesn't even work when using the links to question.

Your problem is with Packlink as that the party you purchased the shipping from. You are Packlink's customer and Packlink are Evri's customer.

There are plenty of UK registered parcel brokers to choose from like Interparcel, ParcelHero, Parcel Monkey and Parcel2Go to name just a few. The problem with Packlink is they are registered in Spain - that means if they (or the courier) ever completely screwed up and cost you thousands there would be nothing you could do as you would not be able to file a small claim against them.

I've noticed there is a hierarchy when it comes to how couriers handle items. At the top are those who buy directly from the courier or those with direct accounts. The middle ground is the UK registered brokers mentioned above whilst squarely bottom of the pile is anything booked via Packlink. It seems to come down to how much the carrier has been paid to handle the item; as Packlink will have negotiated favourable rates due to sheer volume anything booked via them should be assumed to have a higher than normal chance of developing an issue of some kind.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

I had one of these charges recently, directly from Evri. They invoiced me directly to my PayPal (even though i don't have my PayPal account saved with them) by using my email address on account which I thought was clever of them. It was a BS £4.50 charge or something like that, not worth the hassle disputing so I just paid it.

It happens now and again but it shouldn't be bad enough to change courier. That is unless you have business accounts with a courier (naming no names) where sellers seem to be more at risk of getting large unfair charges on their accounts.

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

I've had about 5 of these in the past month. The customer services are as much use as *bleep* on fish. Back to Royal Mail i go.

Packlink have a reputation for this happening.  Buy your postage through Evri directly and you should not have trouble.

And it's not a small amount either.

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

What I think happens is they end up weighing more than 1 parcel on the machine and yours gets hit with the charge. I haven't personally noticed any increase from Packlink tbh, the only evri one is the one I mentioned before bought directly off their site from maybe 1000 combined parcels, probably 70% of which were via packlink.

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

I've found this happens when a courier puts a misband claim in. If i send a 200g item and mark it as 100g on packlink (even if it says up to 15kg), i wil get the charge when courier files a misband. If i was to set it at 15kg at the start i wouldnt. Obv they are telling evri the weight u put is the weight it is and its being misbanded.

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

Today I used Packlink on eBay was charged £6.79 for 1kg doll should have been £4.06.

I had to pay £1.14 for tax

So 5.65 plus £1.14 tax.

From England to England

What's up?

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

I've been charged £6.79 after using Packlink,Evri.

Should have been £4.06 instead ££6.79.

So I've been over charged £2.73

Done on line.

How many others are being over charged?

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

If it was a 1KG parcel it would be £2.94. It is £4.06 is for a 1-2kg parcel.

I can't see £6.79 as a standard charge (England to England) anywhere on the 2-5kg or 5-10kg options. Are you sure you haven't clicked the extra compensation level for proof of delivery or extra insurance on the item price?

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

Evri standard 2-5kg is £5.64 but that is VAT inclusive. InPost is £5.65, VAT inclusive. Unless it's Packlink glitch on your order, definitely wasn't to a remote location where there is an extra charge or bought with add ons as per my previous message, I am stumped on the £ you paid.

You have been charged the remote zone rates:

Was your buyer in one of these?

This isn't news, as Packlink have been doing this for quite some time now. In fact, this is exactly what I warned about when I made this post:

https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Postage/Watch-out-for-the-new-eBay-delivery-services-and-potential/t...

There was a similar post that I made in Seller Central but it got "archived" - presumably because eBay staff don't like anti-Packlink threads! In any case, my advice remains: use a trustworthy 3rd party to get your postage from (Parcel2Go is good), or go directly to evri.com and buy your postage straight from Evri.

Packlink is used for all eBay items with the exception of Royal Mail (2nd/1st/Tracked 24/48 etc etc) and possibly Parcelforce. Any other baked-in eBay service uses Packlink who can go straight into your pending funds or bank account at any time for any reason.

This isn't Evri doing it, it is Packlink because they seem to not be getting enough revenue, and therefore are trying to make up their losses through dirty tactics! eBay now allow them to take from your funds on balance, or bank account, so you can't even dispute the transaction.

If Packlink did this a lot and cost me a lot of money, the Small Claims file would end up going to eBay, not Packlink, as (a) Packlink are not a UK company so can't be taken to court, and (b) for the vast majority of customers, the Packlink postage is actually integrated into eBay, so for all intents and purposes, it is eBay who are providing the service (not Packlink) so eBay are at fault.

Re: Evri via packlink wrongly charged

I've got add some balance to this. From what I'm seeing people aren't weighing parcels. There is the odd glitch here and there but ordinarily people are posting blind imo.

Well that's not good either, you have to know what the weight of the parcel is...

Even if you take it to your local Post Office, get them to weigh it, then buy the postage off Packlink, at least then you can buy the right weight of postage!

Alternatively, kitchen scales are quite cheap, and most take up to 5kg. You should know if your parcel weighs more than 5kg just by lifting it!
