Recently I'm finding the search algorithm a complete waste of time.

Even when a search comes up with no matches the 1st suggestion is the exact search term entered.

Books have become a nightmare.

Usually entering the title and authors surname was enough, now you get different results for no name, surname our initials and surname.

Are the techies deliberately trying to break ebay?

Yep,  many are experiencing this,  you are not alone.

It's a technical error we are told eBay are aware of, working on the issue , but no fix date yet announced.
