Teacup and saucer identification

Hello could anyone help me date and identify this cup and saucer from its mark. The deep recess makes me think it is quite old but I'm not an expert. Many thanks Sue

Had a search but cannot find anything, perhaps you could show the cup upright so the pattern and shape can be seen better. Someone may recognise it. A lot of victorian china was not marked.  Mads

Hi Sue

I think looking in my book its a Samuel Alock in the Persy Adams shape 1835-1940 https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/734720126691903447/ there is something on this link as well. I think if you say you believe Victorian, no mark, except a number which happened in that period with some manufacturers. I have attached an image from my book, will have to send another separately as I cannot seem to send two . My book is a compendium of British cups by Michael Berthoud.
Regards Maddy
