Shipping costs, delays, and losses will be decreased if carriers only delivered to your local shop or delivery box. It would be faster, cost less and packages wouldn't get stolen from porches. A walk up to the shop never killed anyone. It's the only way forward and would be more attractive than the Royal Mail and all their nonsense.

Maybe ok if you live in a town.
My nearest evri parcel shop is 8 miles away.

The option of delivery to parcel shop is available if buyer agrees, but many customers don't want it.
- Some parcelshops have unfriendly staff
- People buy online to avoid having to go to a shop, sometimes because of illness or disability
- There can be a long queue or short opening hours
- It can be harder to collect without a smartphone

You'd also need shops with big enough space to hold 20 plus parcels a day, might work fine if you are a store in a city centre with a large holding space but a local corner shop would struggle.
I get all of my returns held at the depot as I'm there every day which works fine for both me and my local posties as they dont need to bring them out but it would be a nightmare if everyone done this.

I have a similar issue to you @douglaspuglas my nearest Evri parcel shop is 10 miles away and UPS collection point is 10.5 miles away. Thats a lot of walking! Wonder if the carriers would then supply walking shoes?

Some people cannot "walk up the shop".
Maybe read many other posts re click and collect (problems) etc ?.
I will stick with "delivered to me". Thanks for your post though ☹️.

My nearest Evri collection point is actually in the next county and would involve an sixteen mile round trip along a busy country road with no pavement.
Imagine that carrying a 5 kilo bag of animal feed.
I don't think the OP has really thought this through.

In my area people live between 11 and 25 miles from a parcel shop, which would be a tough walk especially in bad weather - for instance, some areas always get snow in winter.

My nearest parcelshop is 4 miles away and I'd have to cross a dual carriageway to get there.

@kidmore_kats All I can think of after your post, is that very funny book by Tony Hawks called round Ireland with a Fridge. As a bet he carried a fridge on his back around the whole of Ireland. A good read to everyone if you haven't read it before!

I do remember that, I might even have read it, I certainly sold some copies on Amazon when selling books on Amazon was still a thing.
