I cancelled an order within 50 minutes of making it.

As a guest, I cancelled an order within 50 minutes of making it, having realised that I the specifications weren't right. I got an email saying "you want to cancel." I reiterate, I cancelled the order within an hour. 4 days later I got an email from Ebay saying I was too late to cancel the order. It still hasn't been dispatched. So what on earth is going on?

Only seller can cancel, but why ever did you pay.

Now you will need to open a not received case as soon as expected delivery date has passed, to get a refund.

I suspect seller has no idea what to do, but if he is not careful he could end up paying a selling fee without any sale going through.

You can request to cancel, you can't actually cancel unless the seller agrees and takes the appropriate action.
