Does eBay automatically remove an item from listings when sold?

I assumed they did do that, but I've now got an order for an item that was sold two weeks prior. I'll need to refund the buyer (but I cannot find out how) and make sure this doesn't happen again.

Look in drop down menu for CANCEL, that will generate a refund but tell buyer first then he might not get a shock.

Which item as I cannot see two sales of same item. The sheet music does not appear  as sold two weeks ago, and sold items should show for 60 days at least.

Is it possible you deleted a sold item and also ticked to relist?

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I will follow up your suggestion, but is it automatic that eBay removes an item once it's sold?

It is automatic.

Sold items, whether sold as buy it now or auction, are removed by Ebay and no longer appear as available for sale.
