Defective item

Bought an item which was defective. The seller initially was helpful in trying to resolve the issue then was no responsive for a time.

We have agreed that due to the item being defective the seller would give a refund but as he doesn't want the defective item back I can't request a refund unless I send the item back

Defective item

Open a "not as described" return and the seller still has the option to refund without return.    If they don't do that, if they're in the UK they will have to pay for the return postage label.
