I think that sometimes people thing about the difference between quality and quantity of life. Some people take all the chances offered, but others just reject them.

It's very sad, she is brave, and will enjoy what is left of her life.

I suppose because when you withdraw the chemo it's only a matter of time before all the major organs fail. Particularly in her case the cancer has already given her seconderies in her liver and elsewhere. She may not even make it to the end of January. Very very sad for her and her family but hopefully she can enjoy - if that's the right word - her Christmas.
