Post purchase marketing emails from seller

I recently got an email from a seller, after I bought from them on eBay, offering a future discount & with a link to their own (non eBay) shop.

I didn't know that sellers could access my email address, I now understand they can, but surely it's not on that they use it to market their own separate business? I was a bit affronted tbh.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes... this happens to me.

I delete them & move on.

Yes, I've had this too in the past, and with a few of those companies I now choose to purchase their items directly via their own website, as I can purchase their goods for a cheaper overall price than I would be able to if I were to purchase the same items from them via their eBay listings.

Emailing seems a bit intrusive but many sellers include a physical flyer for their own website with every purchase.  I don't think that is against any rules.

You can usually get a better deal direct from the seller on their own website.

Ebay by law has to put up business address and other information.

I have had people approach me via my ebay phone number to buy stuff and do work for them !
