Ripped off by EBay

Had an international buyer who decided not to accept delivery of item due to an import tax being applied by his local office. He opened a dispute with EBay and won as he had "not received" the item, I had to give a full refund and £14 to EBay for their trouble, absolute joke of an operation and not what they were when I joined 20 years ago.

Are you sure this was a dispute using the ebay money back guarantee?  The £14 fee makes it sound more like a payment dispute or chargeback.

For an ebay MBG claim the buyer loses protection if they fail to pay import duties, but you need to make ebay aware of that.

For a payment dispute there is no loss of buyer protection.  The only seller protection is proof of delivery, which you wouldn't have (through no fault of your own).

The £14.00 is a "dispute fee" eBay charges when the buyer files a dispute/chargeback with their payment provider. It is usually £16.80 (i.e. £14.00 + VAT).

Which country did the buyer purchase from?

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
