ebay is not sending me verification codes until 2-3 days after I try to log into the app

Don't get me wrong. I fully understand how abominally atrocious eBay has become in more recent years but this is just ridiculous... to combat this issue I went to disable the 2 step verification entirely...only for it to be greyed out with an unknown error message.

I don't blame my phone provider either considering this has only been happening recently and a handful of others I know. 

Is this common at the moment and what can be done about it?

There was an ongoing issue affecting this yesterday. However, this is now resolved, and you should receive your verification codes as normal going forward.
