Pictures missing using APP

I cannot view any pictures for any listing using the eBay APP. The main picture does appear for a second and then disappears.

I have tried reinstalling the APP, clearing the cache etc. The APP is now useless using the android tablet. The tablet uses android 7.0 and is about 7 years old. Will now delete the APP and use the browser instead or is there a fix for the APP?

I'll buy a new phone with Android 10 or higher on it but it won't be via ebay; can't see what I'm buying and there's no Submit Bid button.

Thanks for your response.

I am disappointed 😞 that ebay will not support older versions of android as my tablet is still okay for browsing and for other APPs.   

Unfortunately I will not be buying a new tablet just for the ebay APP. I will wait till the battery fails or the browsing APP is not supported anymore.

Suggest you add a note on the APP description on play store that it only supports android 10 and above.

+1 on telling people that your app won't work on their otherwise perfectly
good devices. It would have saved me hours of googling.

Thanks @peterjb12  and I do understand about the older versions being ok for browsing and other apps. The app on the play store does have the info about the OS version 10 required. Its under the "app info" part but alot of users may not know to check there so its good to mention this point.

What is annoying is that there was no warning to existing users of the app with older Android versions that it would just suddenly stop working.Sent from Samsung tablet.

Hi Kat

Why can't eBay app developers make the app backwards compatible with Android 7.  There are lots of users on Android 7 and I bet there are a lot of unhappy eBay users today. Surely eBay has some clout to make this happen or users will vote with their feet and use other free selling apps that support Android 7.

Hopefully eBay will find a solution if it wants to keep its customers.

Sorry Kat, but the info on play store currently states OS version '9 and up' and states it is supposed to be compatible with my device. Am I missing something?

As per the screenshot below, this is the only available version of the eBay app I can download, on the latest version the Play Store, and it states that it is compatible with Android 9 and Up, is this not the case?

And if not, is there an explanation as to why people like myself can no longer use the app?

Is this the final response from eBay, "If the app will not update on phone or tablet then you need to use or purchase a new device."

And if that is the case, its a pretty big slap in the face to a large portion of users.

It says android 9 and up on my android 9 fone but its stopped working last night

When i install older versions they update themselves to the latest 6.140.0.1 version and wont work

Tech have confirmed the latest report of the app not working is not a technical issue. Sometimes, to ensure that you are using the latest version of eBay, we require you to update your app version. Please uninstall and reinstall your app, and then log back into eBay as normal. That should rectify the situation. If this does not work, you may need to upgrade your OS version and then reinstall the eBay app. In the meantime, you can also access ebay.co.uk via your desktop or mobile web browser.

But I don’t have any other device! so now I and hundreds of other users just won’t be able to use eBay whatsoever. This is a huge slap in the face for those who regularly use the app to buy and sell and eBay just doesn’t seem to care! Surely something can be done to rectify the situation?

kat@ebay since it appears the app update that triggered this issue came out yesterday, was it related to changes that were supposed to go into effect today to add the Buyer Protection Fee?

I know an announcement was posted yesterday saying the Buyer Fee is now being phased in and would only apply to the Electronics category starting today, but so far no one seems to have seen any evidence of the Buyer Fee being added for private sales of Electronics today - did eBay backtrack on the fee or was there a technical issue (related to this app update or not) that has delayed the launch?

What people don't realise is ebay is pushing out private sellers, they make their money from the business sellers. And now they have updated the app to the point that most users don't have the latest 2 grand phone. 

It's time to say it as it is, ebay is the new vinted #2 and I for one will no longer be selling on ebay. Ebid charges a lot less and don't have the same BS ebay has.

Hi Kat,that's great advice for people who haven't got Android 10,like me who has a Samsung S8+ running Android 9.Don't forget to tell everybody to buy a new phone on Ebay to keep up with the latest updates.
