Keeps saying app update!! Help.

Hi everyone.on my tablet I go on Ebay UK and I have an offer from a seller but when I try to open it it just says app needs updating.i have auto updates but it keeps showing it everytime i try so I dont get it.Any ideas!!

I think we have to buy new phones. But the risk is that the new version of the app isn't any good.

Same here. Long time used of ebay. I have spent thousands on it. No more. Amazon here i come.

That announcement by Kat was made on a regular thread  from an OP,  for everyone to see.

I'm just repeating it for others who are suffering the same issue and may not have seen that answer in amongst all the hundreds of threads on here.

Aren't the ebay sellers going to be just a little bit annoyed about this? Losing sales as well as browsers?

Maybe ebay isn't making enough money to rejig their app to work on later than v9 android versions? What a joke.

Hi Bowruss, I'm getting the same, I deleted my old ebay app and then downloaded the (new) ebay app, still locked out. Restarted phone but nothing. Like you I have been with ebay for many years.

I was happily shopping on the eBay app on my android 9 tablet this morning 4th Feb 25  12:10 am, just about to make a purchase and boom the update required message popped up but play store offers no update. After an hour of f'ing about uninstalling, reinstalling, looking for password I went to bed.

A member for 25 years, ebay buyer fees introduced, now I can no longer shop on my tablet... I think ebay are politely telling me to shop elsewhere. I'm done with all this upheaval.

Here's a slightly subversive thought. Was the chop of 9 a planned decision and what did they think it would achieve?.. Smaller sellers must be going mad about this!

Also what happens if you are bidding?

I have the same problem now. My phone with Android 8.0 is still fine, but I can't use the app anymore *bleep*. And on browser is kind of annoying cause everything is so small... And can't get notification from there if something sells. 

Can we upgrade android versions on old phones or it doesn't work this way? Need a new device for it?

Hi. Getting the same as everyone else. Like others, cannot view offers from buyers or make any bids. Ridiculous. EBay are happy to take their fees. I'm not buying a new phone just for eBay. So eBay has just lost their commission from a number of items I can't access and for other items I want to buy. 20+ years. Amazon here I come.

Me too  same phone same problem. My phone works fine so there's no way am I forking out for a new one. 

I've deleted ebay off my phone and don't intend using ebay again until they sort the issue out or my phone dies. This is probably happening to millions of people so i urge everyone who's having the same problem to do the same and post this issue on social media, hopefully if it goes viral and ebay realises how much money they will lose then maybe they will create a patch to fix this annoying problem. 

There are always other apps to use like vinted, gumtree  and amazon etc

I've been sorting thousands of pounds worth of clothes, fishing and camping gear recently, all photographed and boxed ready to sell on ebay so they will lose out on all those sales off me alone plus I usually buy something off ebay every week so that's  another loss for them
