Keeps saying app update!! Help.

Hi everyone.on my tablet I go on Ebay UK and I have an offer from a seller but when I try to open it it just says app needs updating.i have auto updates but it keeps showing it everytime i try so I dont get it.Any ideas!!

I use a Samsung Galaxy S8,not sure what Andriod system it uses but just keeps asking for an update which i can't do,utterly ridiculous,no way i'm buying a new phone just for Ebay,another customer lost!!!!!

Android system 8, so just keeps me in a loop of no update.  20 years a customer, but  no way to access. Thousands of sales and buys......... ebay guys what have you done. Feel for all you users such as me

I've been getting this on my android 9 sony xperia all morning-never had a problem before after 10 years on eBay and 100% positive feedback. Uninstalled a few times, cleared data and rebooted phone etc but still get this message when I log in on the app  "we're sorry this version of the app is no longer supported. Please take a moment to update to the latest version". I am not willing to replace my existing android to just use the eBay app

From ebay today when I tried to find out what was going on:

I have checked and to increase the security of the eBay application we have updated the system requirements to use the application to minimum of Android version 10 and ios version 17 to be able to use the application. This update is required as the security features in the lesser android versions are not enough to keep your accounts secured.

I posted this near the start but just as a heads up, if you delete the app ebay will still work on your browser. The app takes over if still in your phone. 

Don't get me wrong, I want it FIXED ASAP too. Just letting you know that you can still access sales or purchases that way for now 😊

If everyone contacts customer services individually it will get the message home that this is unacceptable

The eBay app no longer works on my iPhone SE.

I keep getting presented with “update required. This version has expired. Please update your app now.” Then it tells me that iOS 17 is required. I’m running iOS 16, which is the maximum that my iPhone can run. When I remove the app and download it again, it says, "But you can download the last compatible version." THIS DOES NOT WORK. I have been a member here for over 22 years and have spent thousands of pounds on this platform. I am not about to go out and purchase a new iPhone because of all of this nonsense.

Yeah deleted the app, the browser version is rubbish.

I have deleted the app after numerous attempts to get it working and I'm now  using eBay on my phone browser at the moment. It's horrible, extremely slow and glitches everywhere. So they have thrown those of us off the app who are who don't have android 10 or above? seems very unfair. Thanks anyways guys, guess I'll have to go to Amazon😑

Delete the ebay app and just go through your Google search bar instead. 

Takes a bit longer but at least it works 👍

There is a fix that would solve the problem. 2 versions of the app on play store, 1 for Android 8 and previous, another for Android 9 or 10.

Not for me. The 'saved' searches doesn't work. It doesn't show 'new' items.

So a dimprovement can only be employed by the user by modifying their actions, and taking longer to perform?

I had the same problem earlier today but it’s working again now so maybe resolved . I have iOS 16

I spoke with an eBay customer service rep a few minutes ago on the telephone, and she assured me that they are aware that many people are unable to update to the latest version of the app or able to download the last compatible version.

It would be a costly mistake for eBay if they no longer provided access to older working devices.

Hopefully they come up with a solution soon.

Ebay have chosen to do this. They seem to be blaming it on being more
secure but banking /shopping apps haven't made our devices suddenly
obselete overnight and they have to be secure.

Ebay have stuffed up big time.
