Keeps saying app update!! Help.

Hi everyone.on my tablet I go on Ebay UK and I have an offer from a seller but when I try to open it it just says app needs updating.i have auto updates but it keeps showing it everytime i try so I dont get it.Any ideas!!

I have an iPhone 7 which is quite old ..?

I also can’t update my air BnB app at all ..?

I also have a iPhone 7 and it won’t let me update my eBay !!!!  and I can’t afford another phone, as I’m a pensioner and rely on eBay a lot to buy my things as I can’t get out, I’m very disappointed with all this !!! Can anyone help !!! I have deleted li like it said but still won’t let me get into it !!……

Yes, it’s a real inconvenience. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

In the meantime…
In your browser, Safari or Firefox, for example, go to ebay.co.uk and ignore / close any pop-up to use the app.
You can log in and conduct your business there.
This is the same as accessing the site on a desktop computer.

~~~ WORTH CHECKING IF YOUR DEVICE CAN UPDATE TO ANDROID 10 ~~~

I didn't think that my old Android device could update to Android 10 but having gone to Settings > Device > Updates it has resulted in having Android 10. The update didn't mention Android 10, it just did it. 

Anyway, the upshot of it is that the eBay app now works again. For the time being. 

It's still poor form on eBay's part. They should really let us all know when they're making changes like this. After all, it will move to Android 11 at some point! I'm kicking the can down the road!

Android 12 and same issue. Tried everything and still wants an update. No update available on Google playstore. Older versions on apkmirror don't work at all.

As you are using Android 12 I will tag   kat@ebay   for you ,  please see the information she needs from you below,  as she is dealing with this matter,  and made this announcement a few days ago :

The latest eBay app version is no longer compatible with android 9 and below. It actually requires OS android 10 and above. If you have another device with android 10 and above you can check the most recently updated eBay app version and see if you can view images.

If you are using OS android 10 and above and still have issues with viewing images on the app please let me know. State what version you use and type of device and I'll have it looked into further by tech.

I'm having the exact same problem! Tried everything suggested but still the same. Whatever is going on with ebay needs sorting immediately!

Exact same problem, and feeling massively let down by a company I have trusted to inform me of major changes coming on the horizon instead of springing them by surprise.

Ditched my old 3G and bought my current phone in 2023 PRECISELY to use the ebay app, the thought of upgrading already is insane.

This is no right way to treat people, especially those on lower incomes who can't afford to upgrade every 2-3 yrs. If it does turn out to be a deliberate policy decision, why was there zero public information campaign to notify users as was the case with fees structure changes, GPSR etc, 6 months prior to them happening?? Shocking.

My phone will not support version 10 and above. Why should I have to Purchase a new one. Ebay forcing people to do this. This needs fixing fast.

the agent said he had never heard of the problem, then checked and agreed
it doesnt work with older android. He agreed to pass the issue on the
technical. And I should standby for an update. I also thanked me for 18
years of loyaloty to Ebay.

If you want to use the app and have android lower than 9 you need a new phone. I tried to update android on my phone, but it says I have all the updates. So in my case and many others is the only solution. We can still use the browser, but that's not the reason why we started this topic. App was very usefull and way faster than browser.

just recieved email from ebay. technical is aware of the problem and are trying to fix issue. that is the response I recieved at 10am 5th feb 2025.  hopefully have a fix soon
