Just tried opening the app on my android phone and get the message "this version is no longer supported. Please update to the latest version". Pressing the "update" goes to Google play but the only options are "Uninstall" or "Open" - no option to update. Pressing "Cancel" closes the app.
I suspect they pushed a new version of the app to deal with the changes introduced overnight but something has gone wrong somewhere.
Anyone else got this issue?

I'm having the same issue since yesterday. This is ridiculous. Android 10 is way too high for a minimum OS requirement. At least keep the old versions useable if you're going to do this. The web version does not have what I need, so after decades I can no longer use eBay anymore. This is pathetic.

Totally agree with you .no notifications of this happening there one minute gone the next.I’ve sold and bought a lot of items on eBay this is the loyalty they have for their customers, not to say the the money they’ve made from them.I’m sure not going to buy a new phone just for eBay.I expect they’ll lose a lot of customers.I should imagine vinted and Amazon willbe rubbing their hands together 🙏 one very disappointed ex customer.😡

Same here I'm gutted, had a full day clearing cookies /cashes restarting my phone, 20 years of ebay loyalty I'm gutted,my research says a phone upgrade unfortunately 😡

Yes, I have exactly the same, so I can't access my Ebay. I've tried uninstalling, shutting my phone down, nothing works.

Just in case you missed my post earlier in this thread, there has been an announcement from a Community Manager to inform app users , that this is not a technical issue so there is no fix.
The latest eBay app version is no longer compatible with android 9 and below. It actually requires OS android 10 and above. If you have another device with android 10 and above you can check the most recently updated eBay app version and see if you can view images.
If you are using OS android 10 and above and still have issues with viewing images on the app please let me know. State what version you use and type of device and I'll have it looked into further by tech.

So eBay no longer works on anything lower than android 10. What are the benefits of this? It appears that the same sort of madness that elected Trump, Musk, Kennedy et al is rife at eBay.

Yes as of 6th feb 25 mine says same update required then wont update just repeats an going round in circles cannot look at anything... have android but its not that old ! ...

Yes, we have the same issue, tried uninstalling, re-installing the App from Play Store, still the same issue? what next?

This may help you. Just spoken to someone at Ebay. Uninstall your Ebay app, then you are able to get into your account through your browser. So relieved I can now access my account. It seems while you are still attached to the Ebay app, this prevents from doing so. Good luck everyone.

Sorry to say people that if that phone is not able to get a later software update then there is not much you can do. Some of it will be down to whether the app can run well but there will equally be security issues with older OS and I guess this is a massive update with many Changes.
My nephew was playing a game which they just stopped supporting 9 months after I bought the phone. Granted it was an £80 phone and it didnt play that well but not the point and he literally had to stop playing.
I ended up selling that and getting him a used iPhone XR which actually ran the game 100x better and cost me £80 so only lost £30 after selling the other.
iPhone XR which I also have was released in 2018 and supports iOS 17 which will run the latest ebay. I know it will end up bricked eventually but its good phone and there loads of used one out there for cheapish so maybe do the same?
Surely ebay could do a light version?, just a basic app that you can do day to day account management on, messages, listing, despatch orders etc then anything more use the web browser.

Yes 2 of us have spent last 3 hours trying all sorts of different ways to get on Ebay ... it must be a mega Ebay problem ... so have we got to upgrade Android 9 to 10 ... or do we wait for Ebay to include Android 9 again ??

No this is an Xgody Y13 Pro.
According to what appears to be the manufacturer's website that device should have Android 10.0 installed or at least have it available as an update. Can you confirm what version of Android is installed on the device (instructions here)?
I will point out this is not entirely eBay's fault. Those with Samsung devices more than about 7 years old (from manufacture, not purchase) and defunct brands such as Wileyfox or Huawei are going to form the majority of users that will be affected. I've explained in detail why in another thread but even Android 10.0 - the minimum Android version eBay now supports via their app - is somewhat old hat now with security updates having ceased in February 2023.

Yes absolute pain and a waste of my time. I am getting the same message and now unable to use eBay app. Tried everything my brain can think of, uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting. I'm lost!!!
Rang eBay yesterday and they said they would get back to me within 48 hours, not as yet.
Having to use the classic site for now which is long winded and time consuming.
I guess it's all to do with this new change.
Let's see if eBay come up with a solution, I hope so.☹️

What manufacturer and model is the device?

Yep, same story with my iPhone, I’m surprised eBay would risk alienating more customers. And I certainly don’t have the patience to jump through more hoops to buy more pointless junk from them, at least Amazons app still works, for now. I’ll be interested to see if this affects eBay sales figures, sometimes decisions like this have wholly unexpected consequences.
