App not working - update required

Just tried opening the app on my android phone and get the message "this version is no longer supported. Please update to the latest version".  Pressing the "update" goes to Google play but the only options are "Uninstall" or "Open" - no option to update. Pressing "Cancel" closes the app.

I suspect they pushed a new version of the app to deal with the changes introduced overnight but something has gone wrong somewhere.

Anyone else got this issue?

If it's worth it financially... why not change your phone or have one specifically for ebay. I'm assuming app doesn't work on older phones.

Good news everyone. Play store Ebay app was updated and i can now install the app on my Moto G14 and it works fine

I have os v11 on a Lenovo tablet.  Have reinstalled eBay app but getting the same message to update.

Try removing completely, via uninstall first. Then run the install 'As Administrator' ( right click the executable ).

That might help.

Thanks... Done that. Think phone model needs to be changed. Not happening just for an app.

Have tried making 2 purchases this week (one just now) using my ebay funds and it's not letting me..I have money in there (£90) but the app is failing to let the payment for the purchase go through.

Seriously think Ebay are trying to put themselves out of business.  Twenty years ago it was a better less complicated company.  It's only buying and selling after all.  Suggest you just log in from a PC and leave the app to masochists

Well I don't know how much good it'll do but i've just reported the issue to BBC Watchdog.

Hopefully they'll look into the general "dodgy-ness" that seems to have taken over.

There's been an update to the app this morning (19th Feb) to apparently squash bugs etc etc.

Well they haven't squashed this bug...STILL not letting me withdraw funds.

What exactly do ebay's tech team do?

Anyone know where to find your "funds" on the website version?..have looked but cannot find them anywhere.

Hi I'm running Android 10 on a Samsung S10 plus and it keeps telling me this version is no longer supported and I need to update but just keeps looping back to update now !!

The latest version of the eBay app (6.245.0.2) requires Android 12 or above.

As far as I know if your phone won't update to a newer android version you're screwed. I had the same problem. Ebay need a kick up the butt for messing people about.

For over twenty years I've used Ebay and really i don't bother that much now because
of all the messing around, government wanting a slice and constant changes to the site. Ebay had a disregard for its customers.

I think I may have a solution to this problem.

If you’re buying or selling on eBay, you will no doubt get emails from them containing a link to the item you’re buying or selling.

When you do get an email with the link to your item, click on the item link and it will take you to your item.

As the eBay page opens, you will see the annoying message, ‘Update Required’

DO NOT click ‘EXIT’ button within the ‘Update’ box, but simply go back to your email message and click the same item link and you should be taken to your eBay item minus the ‘Update Required’ message.

It’s not a permanent fix, but it should give you access to the app.

I may well try that when next i get am email. We shouldn't have to turn three times say hallelujah, hit ourselves with a frying pan and do that procedure each time we're want to access ebay. Thanks for the info though pal.
