To kick off eBay Open, Murray Lambell, eBay UK’s General Manager set the scene for what has been another year like no other. Covid, conflict, climate and the cost-of-doing business crisis have brought unprecedented challenges to eBay sellers everywhere.

But what has been proven once again is that resilience remains a core tenet of all our sellers. In 2022, we’ve seen entrepreneurs spring up from all parts of the country, circular businesses go from strength to strength, and promising start-ups turn into scale-ups.

Join Murray as he shares how eBay has helped sellers succeed throughout 2022, while giving a preview of exciting innovation to come.

" a preview of exciting innovation to come."

Never mind "innovation to come.", how about fixing all the CURRENT problems that buyer and sellers are having? Does Mr. Lambell not monitor the Community Discussion boards? If not, then he should, and maybe find out what's REALLY happening to eBay.

If only the effort that was put into that presentation was also put into the eBay website. Maybe then Lambell would really have something to crow about.

'entrepreneurs spring up from all parts of the country'

Yes and loads of them are 'private' sellers who should be advised to register as business sellers -- and register with HMRC -- so that they can contribute to the economy by paying tax like the rest of us!!

Here here gm0tkc.

The entrepreneurs who are actually committed to their business, who are businesses minded and will keep growing it, employing more and more staff, developing the business name are shafted by eBay.

The entrepreneurs who couldn't give a damn about building a business up, hiring staff, supporting the local community and just want to make as much money as possible by whatever means are handed 80% off fees promo by eBay every 2 weeks, given all those free listings and are given a complete advantage over businesses (which of course encourages a breach of trading laws by not accepting returns when they should).

Hi all,

As the Community Team we monitor the community forums and provide all needed feedback to the relevant people here at eBay.

We appreciate your sentiment here and across the community and we will continue to gather feedback and the experience of our members to share with the wider eBay team.

Thanks,

Katie

You do nothing though. Always the same old saying you monitor comments and yet do nothing.

Why is it private business sellers can operate for years on private accounts being reported over and over and nothing is done? How come they can get away with lots of dummy listings during promos to then edit at a later date and turn into items (couldn't be more obvious when the product image says "this is a dummy listing, do not buy").

Thank you for your reply.

In regard to private sellers we are unable to share the way these accounts are tracked and acted upon by eBay. This information would be beneficial to those trying to avoid moving to a business. We appreciate your reports and the eBay system is build to take needed action where appropriate.

Moderation will take action in line with our Community Guidelines and Board Usage Policy. It is correct that the discussion of moderation actions may be removed from the site. If you have a specific example you would like me to review I will be happy to do so via private message.

Thanks,

Katie

Can I send you clear cut evidence of not only a private business seller with 3 accounts getting the private fee promos, but who has been reported over 100 times, and who also makes "dummy' listings.

Said person gets items from the same supplier as we do and we are a business. They actually often list the same items and undercut us by £1 or so during private seller fee promos knowing we can't drop prices anymore without a loss.

They also walk into Primark, buying multiples of each size of certain limited edition items such as Disney, revise said "dummy" listings into their newly bought wares or wait til the next promo 2 weeks later.

We list one of each size of the "Barbour pembury" wax jackets for example. 4 sizes, 1 listing per size. They list 4 too, 1 of each size, undercut us as they have the private fee promo.

They had them from the same supplier as us. Yet they are allowed to have 4 listed per account during promo fees (12 in total on live listings), have the ability to undercut us because of eBay fee promos given to their private accounts and nothing is done.

We pay around £15,000 a year in fees to eBay. They could sell the same amount as us and only pay around £3000.

We've lost money due to this seller which ultimately has cut staff hours with our business and reduced our donations to local charities.

Would you look into it at least via private messages and sending their account names?

Thanks.

Hi. Can anyone clarify what has happened with the visibility of my Store in the US.  A regular US customer emailed me and asked why she could not see my listings anymore.  You can find an item on the US Ebay if you do a keyword search but from that page if you click see other listings the following

This store has no inventory available in your location  This is what my customer gets.

I tried Webchat who could find my store but they could not understand the issue the US site was giving.

I have looked through post's and is the change for my listings because I am not using Promoted Listings or Global shipping program

It's Christmas and I need the exposure.
