my grandson bought a phone from you (not cheap) it was delivered last Thursday and signed by an Amy, Max doesn't look like an Amy.  He went to the Post office Sat. morning and they told him it had been delivered to Amy.

The Post Office doesn't deliver anything, so I'm not sure why your grandson went there. All he had to do was check the tracking number on Royal Mail's website. If tracking says 'delivered', he needs to take this up with Royal Mail. Tell him to phone his local Royal Mail delivery office so that they can investigate.

Parcels cannot be signed for by the recipients at present, due to the pandemic. Posties should be signing as delivered, and with 'Covid'.  Are you sure tracking definitely says 'Amy' and not 'Covid'...? If so, I'm guessing that's the postie's name.

Your grandson did not buy from anyone here , we are members like you and he did not buy from Ebay either. He bought from a seller using the Ebay Selling Platform.

You should take this up with your local delivery office, they are the ones who claim it was delivered and signed for. That means very little at the moment as "signing" has been suspended, so Amy means very little, but the Delivery Office would know which postman was on your delivery round, and need to be asked for an explanation.

The conditions for eBay's money back guarantee are clear.

If the postal tracking record doesn't confirm delivery to the buyer's address, the seller has to refund them. If it does confirm delivery, they don't. The signature doesn't matter much - anyone can sign for parcels. Not all services even require a signature.

Do you have access to the actual tracking record (if the seller uploaded it to eBay you can check it on RM's track and trace web site).

EBay can't and doesn't attempt to investigate delivery issues. You can try using eBay's money back guarantee through the resolution centre, but if the tracking confirms delivery to your address eBay can't hold the seller responsible for what happened to it afterwards.

Unfortunately, theft of parcels left on the doorstep or in a "safe place" outside the house is a growing crime. It's also possible that there was some mistake in the delivery record, in which case there's still a chance it might turn up. Keep asking at your local post office.

Good luck, but this is one of the risks of buying things through eBay.

If post has to be signed for Royal Mail employees will verify delivery at the door and then record the code 'xD1' to indicate delivery. This arrangement was put in place so that customer contact handing a device to a customer to sign for an item themselves didn't bring staff and customers within two metres of each other. Names like 'Amy' are not legitimate proofs of delivery especially with the agreed 'xD1' in place and also on the grounds of [as you say] Max having the wrong tackle to even be considered an 'Amy' ... Don't bother with your local post office but get online and obtain the central customer service and complaints [08457] telephone number for a quicker result. This will enable a 'Lost Item' enquiry to be directed at your local Sorting Office Manager who will take the matter up and 1/ Check the Post Office Item GPS System for your parcel's location if it is still in the system. 2/ Have tracking number handy as you will need to give this to the service rep you speak to and for tracing purposes. 3/ Interview the Delivery Staff member who will be traced as to what was done with your parcel. 4/ Come back to you with their findings if they cannot enable immediate redelivery to you free of charge.

Source: This happened to me three weeks ago. Item now delivered safely.

Best of luck I DO hope you get this resolved slight_smile

Items don't have to signed for by buyer, posties are signing themselves rather than risk addressee touching pad.

If seller can prove delivery, which they have, then you need to go back to RM sorting office and complain until manager investigates.
