The painting is nowhere near as fine as the famous James Webb, and the signature is different.

But that's just my opinion. Best to take it to an auctioneer to look at, or a gallery.

It's either a different James Webb or a very, very poor fake.

It only says J Webb on the signature  - might not be a James

I agree....it doesn't look to be by James Webb. Another thing.....it looks like a watercolour, but the white on the waves and the rocks looks suspiciously like acrylic or Gouache. It looks like it was added afterwards as it is an opaque paint. I don't think it is as old as it is pretending to be!

yes not being a art person it lo9oks child like to me but going by the framers details was painted in the uk

so just wondered if it might  be from that famous family

when i got it from a charity shop it was framed

the back of the frame was like tary straw weird stuff

so pulled it out of the frame
