Hello
last year my husband was contacted by the met police. They were asking about an ex colleague from 30 years ago and preparing a case of historical abuse. They took a statement over the phone.Eventially they emailed him to say they had charged the person and would require my husbands attendance at court as a witness
At the time my husband was quite ill and not fit to travel so far, especially given that the trial was expected to last five days,. The detective said that she would ask the court if the statement she had obtained would be sufficent and they agreed it would be okay to just use the statement so in the end he didnt need to go.
We were never actually told what he was charged with, or to who the charge related. The traial was in may - we are not sure which court. I emailed the detective we had been dealing wth and she has now left the met.
Is there any way I can check what happened? Ive tried googling his name but it seems that there is another man of the same name who is imprsoned for serious offences afew years back so all searches just bring his name up.
Thanks

pop into your local police station or contact Met
if the name you googled is a man already in side they may be the same as it,s an historical case

On the letters, there will be a case number
Go online and search that Courts website for that case number
All cases are Public records
