If, as implied, the app kept the user anonymous then I don't see a problem and I can see how it could save lives.

Yes...I would use it. It would be good to know where the cases are. Today I learned that one of the members of my Art group and her partner both have the virus. She is being treated at home with oxygen. The area where I live is a real hot spot. So It would make sense to use an app like this. When they announce the numbers in Wales now, they don't say what area the cases and deaths are in...but the word is that most of them are in my local hospital..the Royal Gwent. So I'm not leaving my house.

No, I would avoid it even if I had a smart phone and knew how to use it.
Astro I am missing my holiday in Wales this year because of this horrid virus but I holiday at the top end in Towyn opposite where you are in the Newport area.
