What is your stance on a Covid-19 vaccine ?

I have already seen protests from people saying if there ever is a vaccine for Covid-19 they will refuse to have it ! This I do not understand because this vaccine (if it ever transpires) could help save your life and possibly save all the brave workers already having put themselves in harms way from doing so again.

I have my own opinion on what should happen but it might be too controversial for this forum.

I will gladly have the vaccine if it transpires and at least gives me some protection.

Thanks mjet, I'm in A&E and they have found the problem - pulmonary embolism in both lungs. If I hadn't questioned the doc this morning he would have sent me home unable to breathe. Have been moved to a ward with a delightful view over the cemetery 😄

Anyway, to be a bit more on the covid topic, medical staff are not surprised about my covid like symptoms at end of January. Many think it was in this country by November even. I will get a test but it probably won't show antibodies after 6 months unfortunately as I would be curious to know. Some medics think that that nasty covid virus could have caused things like these clots and other post-viral problems, so people please do take care and avoid those other types of clots invading the beaches and countryside

It's actually quite shocking to think that Covid could have reached the UK as early as November 2019, especially as the Government were so slow to actually do anything, even when the first signs of a widespread problem started to become more obvious.  Unfortunately, due to the Government's dithering, by the time they actually started to do something about the problem it was more like a case of shutting the stable door after the horse had long since bolted, the end result being that things started to get out of hand.  Although it may not have been possible to totally eliminate the problem, even if the Government had acted sooner, it may well have reduced the extent of the spread of the disease in the UK, and subsequently, the overall death toll in the UK to date from coronavirus.

Personally I think that the Government should have done something a lot sooner than they did, and rather than the silly "Stay alert" messages and the repeated instances of everybody contradicting everybody else from the Government caused by several MPs all saying something completely different in relation to the situation, and in some cases with MPs completely defying the lockdown (for example, one such MP who stated that he was going for a drive during lockdown "to test my eyesight") it only resulted in more confusion owing to the barrage of mixed messages we were all getting.  My own feeling is that if the Government had taken a tougher line earlier on, and in addition to implementing lockdown and the compulsory wearing of facemasks, had gone as far as to put a complete block on all passenger flights into and out of the UK, and also applying the same blocks to UK sea ports, then perhaps the severity of the outbreak in the UK wouldn't be as bad as it is now.  God only knows how the friends and families of those who have lost their lives to coronavirus must be feeling - the new rules relating to funerals must only be making their anguish even worse, as most of them can't get the chance to say their last goodbyes properly due to the fact that only a very small group of the deceased's friends and family are actually allowed to attend the funeral.

m25jet, you mention the silly "Stay Alert" message ! Well you should be up here where nippy knickers "nothing I say or do about Covid-19 is political"  when actually everything she says or does is political has FACTS ! yes rather than have three short sharp bullet points like Johnson she has come up with a narrative to remind you what you should be doing.

I could not remember it even if I had it written down in front of me lol.

If only some of the sheep that follow her blindly would see the damage her and her party are doing to Scotland and vote her out.

The reason I said it was silly is because the "Stay Alert" message is silly.  Think about it - what are we supposed to be on the alert for?  Covid isn't something like a mugger that we can visibly see or physically punch the living daylights out of if it attempts to attack us, so how are we supposed to be on the alert for it?  Would you know what Covid looked, felt, smelled, tasted or sounded like if you came across it?  Of course not.  You wouldn't know until it was too late, and by then you'd have contracted the disease and would have to self-isolate, or worse still, go into hospital, maybe even spending some time in ITU as Boris did when he caught the disease.

Getting back to the subject of the message, it would have been far better if the Government had come up with some more practical advice, such as "Wear your face masks in public - help to slow down the spread of the disease" but they chose not to do that.  All we got was a succession of mixed messages, with several Government MPs all contradicting one another, so it's hardly surprising that most people have given up paying attention and are now just doing their own thing instead of taking the correct course of action to halt the spread of the disease.  For example, the instances of people flooding the beaches in the hot summer weather during the height of a global pandemic, resulting in it becoming impossible to maintain adequate social distancing, is only going to increase the risk of transmission of the disease.

At the end of the day I'm not an MP, I don't have all the answers, but I do know that we all need to be far more focused on making a collective effort with regards to beating this disease and avoid becoming too complacent, otherwise it's only going to backfire very badly on us sooner or later.  None of us can accurately state how soon a cure is going to be made available, or even if a cure will ever become available, so in the meantime we all need to be as careful as possible to make sure that we don't contract it, or spread it to others if we've already caught it.

What is your stance on a Covid-19 vaccine ?

Hi astro, I am back at home thank you ❤️. I was sent back on Saturday night with some medication - blood thinners and a new type of inhaler. It will take a while I guess before I feel much better, I am currently 'trapped' at home because I have to park my vehicle quite a way away up a long hill. Usually I don't mind the walk but I can't actually make it up the hill at the moment. So no chance to get to my allotment to water and weed and I have had a warning from the Council ☹️ I hope they will be reasonable when I tell them I have been struggling in the last few weeks.

But here is a warning for anyone who has to go to hospital - be assertive if you are able and well enough to 'argue' if you are not satisfied with the outcome. I was amazed at how many nurses and doctors I had to give my symptoms to throughout the night. At 9am a doctor told me he was sending me home with no more investigation or treatment. Clearly he had not read the notes written by other doctors and nurses through the night, neither had he digested the facts I had just told him, that my breathing difficulties and dizziness had become severe just over the period of a week or two. The previous month I could walk a long way on the flat, but no more than a few paces by last Friday and I couldn't get up the stairs in my house. I insisted they checked out my heart other than just BP and a quick ECG. So they looked at my heart and lungs in a CT scan and found embolisms in both lungs. If I hadn't pushed it (there was no one to speak for me) I reckon I would have been as bad on return and having to call them yet again. It is very scary when you can't breathe and get dizzy, especially when alone.

Hi, pleased to see you are OK but.... what type of anti-coagulants are you on and what are they supposed to be doing to dissolve the clots you've got?

What is your stance on a Covid-19 vaccine ?

Thanks cee-dee. I had a heparin injection in the stomach in hospital and I have oral anticoagulant pills (Rivaroxaban) to take, either for months or the rest of my days I suppose.
Plus a once-a-day inhaler to help breathing and I feel that it is starting to help 🙂
