What are your pet hates when driving ?

Some of mine are,

People that drive in poor visibilty with only side lights on.

Tailgating.

People that go down the outside lane knowing it is closed due to roadworks and forcing their way in right at the roadworks and last but not least people that know they are in the wrong lane for the junction they want then slow down until they can force their way in causing the traffic in both lanes to gring to a halt.

Hmmmmm, here, it's people who drive these narrow lanes way out from the side of the road crowding me over so the briars sticking out of the hedges are clacking the side of my car.

Also, it's people with poor judgement who see a car coming, brake sharply and stop even though there's plenty of room for both to pass comfortably.

We lived in Reno, Nevada, USA for many many years.  There, other than an actual auto wreck, the absolutely worst thing was to run over a skunk, or an already squished skunk, which is even harder to see.  They're black, you know, with that white stripe, and not all that visible during dark hours.   The effects are hideous, immediate, and almost permanent.  There was a local story about a truck driver who ran over one many years ago, but nothing immediately happened, so he sighed with relief and drove on.  Unfortunately, it was thrown up onto his engine, where it fried.  Then things happened.

People who have no idea which lane they should be in on a roundabout and people who think indicators don't need to be used at any time

I dislike drivers who intend to turn right into a side street but who stay on the left of the road they are on. You then get the situation with oncoming drivers where he can't turn right and now we get a pile up of cars piled up behind him just 'cos the stupid armpit didn't move over to the right.

People who dogmatically refuse to pause for just a few seconds to allow a stationary vehicle to turn right across you.  There's invariably a long line of traffic who can't get past him.   I've had grateful drivers twelve cars behind him flash their lights and give me a thumbs up in grattitude, but to me it's no big thing - it's not even courtesy.  It's just straight common sense.  The same as a line of cars trying to come out of a side road.  If just one car in five lets one person out, there'd be no queue at all, and is four seconds really going to delay you?

.  Read the road:  If there are a set of traffic lights on green two hundred yards ahead, slow DOWN.  That's right.  You know full well they're going to turn red by the time  you're seventy feet from them, so why waste petrol approaching them at 35mph knowing that you face a three minute wait?  I'm one of these people who are happy to be stuck in trafficfive cars back, because I know the next time the lights turn green, I'm through.

People who stop dead at roundabouts when its clear no-one is coming!!!

People who drive so fast down a winding narrow country lane, overshoot & end up going through fencing & landing up in a field usually mine!.

Tailgaters really annoy me.

I will pull over at the nearest safe point and let them pass

It never seems to do them any good though, as I usually pull up behind them at the next traffic lights.

My main pet hates while driving are drivers with little or no patience or common sense.

I had a cabin cruiser, and if I saw a queue of traffic building up behind me, I used to go round the roundabout three or four times to lgive other road users a chance to pass me.  That kept them happy, and me too.  People always tailgate me on country roads.  Maybe they're local residents who know what's round a blind bend - I don't!.

I can't drive....but then again I bet I can do better than some drivers!!!!

OH hates peeps who leave it until the last minute to squish in when a lane is closed, and the same as Stan.

I can't stick people in massive 4x4's who won't give an inch down the country lane leading to our village...they come barging at you well where the hell are we supposed to go? on top of the hedge?????

People who drive with so called Fog lights on... they are probably not fog lights but just a trendy pose...

and it is never foggy when they are on.. boils me... especially on a night time drive home from work.. just no need.....
