......I knew it was a regular thing in Afghanistan at their markets to fight their dogs to the death.
This story in the mail though commendable does not quite fit. (not to say other stories do).
Wylie, this small very frail dog is said to be a fighting dog? Never IMO. Perhaps fighting to get away when thrown in with a fighting dog. Can you imagine this little mites chances against a PIT BULL or any other fighting dog for that matter?
Anyway, it's a wonderful story thanks to Sarah Singleton and Nowzad and those that might wish to donate( if someone would bring up the link please). You might even consider donating your self. The appeal address is in the blue box.

From Afghan fighting-dog to a starring role at Crufts: Extraordinary recovery of mongrel rescued by British soldiers in Kandahar
Fighting back: Wylie the rescued dog from Afghanistan is preparing to compete at Scruffts with his new owner Sarah Singleton
He was a fighting-dog who endured brutal beatings, had his ears and tail severed and was left for dead on the streets of Afghanistan.
But now the only adversaries Wylie has to worry about are the other crossbreeds at Crufts.

Never understand why you would bring 'rescue' dogs from abroad...
We have 1,000s in this country that need resucing....

True, we do, but its not as if she went out to get one Mr E. I suppose she bonded with him when out there and so brought him home. I can understand that and would want to do the same. He's a lovely looking dog now, and a happy ending for him.

Yes, someone cannot understand ....
Reminds me of that song 'anyone who had a heart' Cilla Black.
Most unlike some have. And no matter where they go it goes with them. They like China and so many other countries as far as i'm aware have no animal welfare thoughts or concerns.
Yes, worth a look at T.I.s, link (thank's T.I.) Quite a good insight on that with hundreds of animal lovers.
Of course we have the ''worst'' rated on the mail comments....and the worst of all at the momment 301 reds! he says:
''WHAT AN UGLY MUTT''
Needles to say he, and some, have come under some ridicule from me and many others (have a look sometime).

I was talking in general.. not just this particular case....
There are charities dedicated to bringing dogs from abroad...... While 100s of dogs here are put to sleep because they are not wanted....
Reason.....
Because a dog rescued from a 9th floor council flat doesn't have the same 'talking' point for the new owner than ...
"Yes he was rescued from a back street butcher in China... He was about to be killed and eaten....
But then the dog on the 9th floor then gets put down....

Oh well, never mind. Like you said: ''someone said the RT is dead'' And I remember that thread too T,I, (yes it went).
Two days ago I started this thread and look only three replies. The amazing fact is there are hundreds ''comments'' on your mail link T,I, I visit it often now. Well it's hardly dead on there.
And it's wonderful that many have donated..And others can see the list if they donate a little. They need it believe me.
Anyway thank you.

Was watching a piece on the local news tonight about Wylie, so many bad things come out of Afganistan that it is lovely to hear a heartwarming tale, good luck to Sarah and Wylie at scruffs. He is a fine looking dog even without his ears.

Yes I'm still trying to find out how they came to the conclusion he was a fighting dog?
As I said what chance would that little mite have against any fighting dog? Which usually are Pitbull's, or Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
It is quite common with these dog fighting gangs to breed the bitch until she can breed no more, then she is used as a bait dog, which means she is thrown in to fight other bitches until she cant fight no more, and dies mercifully when that other dog rips her throat out.
This is what they do not only here but over many countries all over the world. This is the human race for you. And they say we behave like ANIMALS!

I wonder if some try thinking first? But obviously not. They might even reaslise how obvious it is?
'live in squalor, animal credentials' ? What on earth is he/she/ on about?
I know it's a RANT!
Yes I would say it's sheer desperation of a CERTAIN section of RT posters .... ENJOY! ^
