We are indeed "Better Together"..

As I predicted it wasn't particularily Close..  All the scare stories around post costs can now be put to bed.. I must admit I sat looking at a blank TV screen this morning when i got up at 5.30am unable to switch on just in case the worst had happened and Soapy Salmond had indeed Crowned himself King!!..  Only time will heal the divisions but I'm so glad the majority voted to go forward with England, Wales and Ireland and hopefully build a better future and a stronger Union..   Is IT to late or to Early for a wee Dram to toast everyone from both sides>>>>>

I voted Yes Dave.

One reason was that back in the winter of this year, the main headlines were "If Scotland win independance they cannot use our pound any more". Fair enough, whatever, but at the time there was severe flooding, and most of Lower England were sitting on their roofs waiting for Westminster to do something to help.

Another reason that I voted yes, is that I object to being forced to pay for the BBC. We Scots pay 300 million a year in licence fees, but only one third of that is actually used for BBC Scottish broadcasting. This is why the BBC were so biased in the campaign, they stood to lose 200 million in license fees.

Anyway, it's all over....

Burn it!!

I am pleased that Scotland made the right decision. However this vote will cause a deep rift that I think will end in future troubles throughtout Scotland and the UK.

The Scots are foolish to think they are the only part of the UK that feels 'hard done by' - and personally I feel this whole campaign has been very badly handled on both sides! No forethought, no planning and the yes campaign had not got a clue what they would have done had they won! So many important issues were never mentioned throughout the campaign.

There are poor an downtrodden people all over the UK - in all four parts of the union, Scotland really must be made aware of that.

If the TV license is top of the list and a good reason to vote yes then it really is time to give up!

This referendum was good for one reason - it may see a bit more money being spent outside London and the South.

Oh and by the way - I for one will never support Andy Murray again!

David Cameron has just made a Speech regarding more Powers for Scotland, but just as important for England, Wales and Northern Ireland also.. Just as it should be.. I agree that the TV Licence is a bit of silly reason to vote yes.. It was this type of vote that I was most frightened of...   Anyway I will not need my Passport on Saturday when we travel down to Sunny! Manchester on Saturday for my eldest daughters surprise birthday Party.. Smiley Very Happyheart

The nasty Nats have been defeated....... for now. Several no supporters actually wanted a yes vote in order to shut up the yesses, once the failure of their plans was exposed in a few years time.

Hopefully Salmond the windbag and would-be emperor will leave us alone and retire from politics, but probably not.

The silly teenage boys driving around with flags hanging out their car windows will be silent thank goodness.

As many people said, the idea of a proud independent Scotland is great, but not financially viable especially at the moment when almost the whole of the UK is in an economic mess.

One last thing to the nasty nats.............  GIVE ME MY FLAG BACK !!!     The saltire was never yours alone to claim, it belongs to all of us and is quite happily a  part of the world's greatest flag, the Union Jack, so ''go bile yer heeds ya clowns''.

I'm a long time supporter of independence, there was loads of detailed information available about what would happen in the event of a yes vote, you just had to look for it as the media in general and the BBC in particular are very biased against independence. The whole campaign could have been so much more positive and informative from both points of view with a balanced media.

I hope I'm wrong with this, but I'm waiting for the backlash once the dust settles. Before the ink was even dry on the 3 Westminster leaders vow of more powers in the event of a no vote, Conservative MPs were saying they wouldn't agree to it.

Anticipating a Conservative/UKIP coalition at the next general election and then Scotland will be totally stuffed.

Yes I agree, but I remember his comments about the England football team some years ago which he hastily tried to back peddle away from.

The referendum has created an awareness amongst other areas that they too need more money - the West Midlands being one of them. Some of the poorest areas in the UK are in the West Midlands, with a population that dwarfs Scotland and yet is still responsible for exports that are twice that of Scotland. Maybe its time the WM looked for independence - from London!

Yes but maybe not for long.. One of King Soapy Salmonds early Bribes. Not only prescriptions.. Eye Tests, Free Bus travel for the over 60's, Free Hospital Parking (mostly), Council Tax Fro*en. The letter next to the X is missing from my Laptop..  All, in my opinion were Bribes put in place over a period of time in preperation for this Referendum.. The silent Majority spoke out on the Day and to be honesy I don'y feel to much sympathy with the Yessers.. They most certainly wouldn't feel to much sympathy if it had gone their way..  Smiley Embarassedheart
