This unfolding tragedy around Europe

We pay politicians to act on our behalf, throughout Europe and the rest of the developed world the plight of those fleeing war, famine, religious persecution etc is being ignored. Surely it is not beyond the realms of sensibility for us to expect, even demand a collective humane response by the international community to agree action in those countries where terrorists reign. Allowing and encouraging the victims to flee is wrong, they deserve and should be given the right to live peacefully where they were born and like the rest of us have the freedom to travel abroad and see other cultures. The Russians and Chinese stand by and watch while quietly selling weapons to these terrorists. The west interfered yet never considered the impact they would have. It is time the UN grew up and did what it was formed to do.

Is it surprising that there has been an 'intervention', when a poster has accused another poster of lying? And by the same old assumer and accuser? No-one likes to be labelled a liar...it is rude and offensive. Most posters on here accept differences of opinion, and individual observances and experiences with good grace and great humour.  Except for one.😕

Yes I do agree, posters would benefit from something more specific rather than relying on reference to community guidelines etc. Any thread with 200+ posts will undoubtedly stray to some extent as a topic develops, it may on occasion require a gentle prod to realign it, but it appears that the templates used by mods are, in effect, a straight jacket which prevent the kind of enlightenment that might provide a better understanding of forum etiquette.

There has been an intervention because someone has obviously been button-pushing. I wonder who?

If someone doesn't like to be thought of as a "liar", then perhaps they should refrain from telling tall tales in the first place.

Meanwhile back on topic refugees in Calais broke through security barriers and attempted to enter the channel tunnel overnight, services were suspended while authorities sought to regain control and make it safe to resume traffic.

By the end of this month temperatures will start to seriously decline placing migrants in even greater difficulty than before. While governments struggle to find policy which addresses the fear of their own public and the tragedy of stateless people there are a raft of agencies and charities all appealing for funding to do their bit. I wonder if they co-ordinate efforts or simply ignore the wishes of society to focus solely on re housing migrants.

The other problem we face when seeking to help others are those who ignore and belittle views which do not match the moral high ground they seek to occupy. Shutting down debate by personal insult is non democratic yet it is a popular tool among a small section of radical anarchists. They see it as their mission to disrupt and dispel free speech constantly attempting to discredit the individual above the argument. The fact this continues is testimony to all those who have withered on the forum vine and that the RT Remains (just) despite the obvious collusion of those responsible for arbitration on here.

The Calais fiasco is surely the clearest indication that a borderless Europe is a failure and that "rules/laws" are not being followed?

Assylum seekers are "supposed" to seek assylum in the first safe country they managed to get to and they should all be returned there!

The "economic migrants" are all illegal immigrants and again, they should be returned from whence they came?

Would the Calais fiasco be ended if those two scenarios above were followed.

As to the personal insults, best ignore and not respond?

Man Surprised Woman Surprised        And YOU are wondering who?

Not much difference between ''LIAR'' and ''TALL TALES''  really.  Both matter though if you call someone either Man Wink.

Hello Harry....I don't imagine for one moment that you need anyone to stand up for you!😄😄 My post was just to try and explain why there had been an 'intervention'.

It really annoys me when people come out with this tripe!

It is an internal EU agreement amongst member countries that asylum seekers should seek asylum in the first safe country they enter - it is not a UN rule nor is it enshrined in any international agreement.

As for sending illegal immigrants back to whence they came - where possible that is what does happen but how are you going to send thousands of undocumented immigrants back to places like Libya?

This unfolding tragedy around Europe

'This unfolding tragedy around Europe' does not only concern asylum seekers. If people have concerns about the way incomers behave when they arrive in the West and they express those concerns based on personal observations, then those concerns are just as relevant as any others on this thread and certainly could not be construed as being 'off topic'. To doubt the veracity of another persons observations because they don't tally with your own point of view is just bad mannered. But of course we are all well accustomed to that from certain posters aren't we?
