You may be right, he survived for 17 years or whatever it was.
He was a strong personality. Like a kind of Joseph Stalin, or Sadaam Hussein. For all their ills, at least they held things together.
Once they were gone, the countries they controlled broke up. The USSR disintegrated, and Iraq is now doing the same thing.
Will FIFA follow the same pattern - ie break up - so instead of a single World Cup, we'll have different versions, like in boxing?

Do we need FIFA? all they do is rip off fans, take bungs and bring the game into disrepute. Its a bit like the European Parliament we don't want or need it, all we do is pledge more taxes to keep politicians and civil servants employed, all they do is tie us up in red tape.

Well FIFA is only doing what all politicians do, ie exploit the weak to keep in power.
I agree with your observations generally. The trouble is, some people keep voting for politicians.

Ah the Hartlepool Monkey, Archie. A wise choice if I may say so.
Here's a statue of him on Hartlepool Marina.
This one collectls money for charity, but all donations will now go to 'The Step Splatter Retirement Fund'.
Very apropos too, since I understand Hartlepool has a football team. But I could be wrong about that.
