I am in deep shock
David Bowie my hero of the early 70s, has died of cancer aged 69
Stunning version of 5 years live on OGWT

I like the tweet attributed to Simon Pegg, although it was apparently not from the actor after all:
“If you’re sad today, just remember the world is over 4 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.”

Someone wondered how to say "Bowie"?
He said he thought it was "Bo-ee". Not "Bow-ee", not "Boo-ee", but "Bo-ee". How'd anyone else say it. I always pronounced it "Bow-ee"............ oops.
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.

.
Bowie in line with His own wishes was cremated in total privacy, only hours after His death.
Stunning tweet, Why REAL Stars deaths hurt so much
Thinking about how we mourn artists we've never met. We don't cry because we knew them, we cry because they helped us know ourselves.

According to the man himself the pronounciation is Bowie to rhyme with showy or snowy.

I rather like the quote from David Bowie's wife, after his death. She said 'You never know the value of a moment, until it's a memory'.
How true that is.

No quote from me just a reflective track from 2013.

The amount of tributes and written articles about him has been astounding.
He has just had a constellation of stars shaped like a lightning bolt registered in his honour.

I saw an old interview yesterday where DB pronounced his name "Bow-ee" (rhyming with "How now brown cow) although I've seen others where he pronounced it "Bo-ee".
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

This was from a fantastic show at the BBC Radio Theatre in 2000. Got it on CD, still trying to track it down on DVD.

Haven't seen this in a number of years. David Bowie in a mini-movie.........Jazzin' For Blue Jean. Quite funny in places, he does a good turn in self ridicule.
