The Elephants Knew
And some will say there is no God, try and tell that to the elephants…
The Elephant's Journey To Pay Respect, But How Did They Know?
Lawrence Anthony, a legend in South Africa and author of 3 books including the bestseller, The Elephant Whisperer.
He bravely rescued wildlife and rehabilitated elephants all over the globe from human atrocities, including the courageous rescue
of Baghdad Zoo animals during US invasion in 2003.
On March 7, 2012 Lawrence Anthony died.
He is remembered and missed by his wife, 2 sons, 2 grandsons, and numerous elephants.
Two days after his passing, the wild elephants showed up at his home led by two large matriarchs.
Separate wild herds arrived in droves to say goodbye to their beloved 'man-friend'.
A total of 31 elephants had patiently walked over 12 miles to get to his South African House.
Witnessing this spectacle, humans were obviously in awe not only because of the supreme intelligence and precise timing
that these elephants sensed about Lawrence's passing, but also because of the profound memory and emotion the beloved
animals evoked in such an organized way:
Walking slowly, for days, making their way in a solemn one-by-one queue from their habitat to his house.
Lawrence's wife, Francoise, was especially touched, knowing that the elephants had not been to his house prior to that day
for well over 3 years!
But yet they knew where they were going.
The elephants obviously wanted to pay their deep respects, honoring their friend who'd saved their lives - so much respect
that they stayed for 2 days 2 nights without eating anything.
Then one morning, they left, making their long journey back home.
Something In The Universe Is Greater And Deeper Than Human Intelligence.

That is truly awesome and thought provoking.

Hello Tim.
I see you posted this almost a day ago. Response for some reason lacking perhaps.
Yes a wonderful story and a wonderful man. Some might take the time at least to read it.
I posted the story about Raja the BABY elephant chained and held hostage by an angry mob for the damage his family
had done to their crops. Having no choice! what else can they do? Looks like elephants will no longer roam free (30 to 50 years at most I have heard said) unless very drastic action is taken.
This is Raja, what the world has come to when his mum is killed and they hold her beautiful helpless BABY hostage.

I said when I did this link about Raja, that I would tell you as soon as I know how he was.
I'm afraid to say I found out today that he is dead.
2O MONTHS pregnancy, and all that entails, and no one could not save such innocent beauty.
R.I.P little Raja.

Hi TIM. (astrolica, did ask about you, in case you missed it)
I have some good news that you may have missed?
The Duke of Cambridge Prince William will be taking up this, and other animal matters soon in Africa.
And that wonderful person Paul O'grady will be making a documentary on it too soon in Africa.
Yes, they are both going there for separate programmes.
Here's another two pictures I think you will like ....

Wow, I love elephants and support many elephant campaigns, but I had not heard this.
It is truly awesome, but I am not surprised. Elephants are incredibly intelligent and sensitive.
There are other animals who display touching shows of grief. For example, when George Adamson died (the man who spent his life with lions), after the human funeral, on the same night all the lions he knew gathered at his grave and stayed there all night.
Wildlife is wonderful !
Thank you for posting, OP.

Yes they seem to have a sixth sense. (Remembering Greyfriars Bobby, and other stories)
You support many elephant campaigns. Congratulations.
Others who might wish to how ever small can Google Elephants of Africa or Elephants of Samartra (Asian).
Here's another couple of pictures for TIM......
Remember little Wonky, dumped on a street, well she was made well. And her legs are as normal through intensive
therapy. all done because people donate however little.

Hello Tim - haven't heard from you for a long time. I know you were unwell.
I if you remember told you that Paul O'Grady's will be filming in Africa, and the programme is on ITV tonight at 9PM.
I'm sure it will be of great interest to you and others. Take care. Oh here is a picture of an incident where a mother
Hippo trys to defend her calf, and as painful as it looks she is successful. Yes she was perfectly alright, but a little rattled.......
Some elephant ..... and some hippo indeed.
