TV series/programmes.

I've often wondered what the heck programme makers are thinking particularly when making a series.

Every episode has the same looooooong introduction often lasting between two and three minutes and often accompanied by loud noises/silly music. WHY? Then after between 7 and 10 minutes in from the supposed start time they go to an advert break.

Another thing that gets me is mostly the narrators of docu type programmes are excellent, clear speakers but others taking part don't speak clearly and often mumble, not helped by poor microphones. Sometimes these programmes have silly noises or music whilst people are speaking, what's the point of that? The standard of speech is bad enough without being partly drowned out by unnecessary noise. Is it just me or do others have similar thoughts on the subject?

It's not just you!

I agree with the ' mumbling' in programmes, docu or otherwise,  but it's not the fault of the microphones,  I'm sure it's just poor diction.  The day of ' tv speech'  aka Dimbleby and Attenborough,  I fear are long gone.

My gripe is when viewing a programme,  some documentary in particular,   our shows are copying the American type,  that is,   showing of a brief synopsis of the whole show in the first 5 mins before the actual programme starts.  So most of the tale is told beforehand.

I'm sure I can think of more, but need to go back to making the dinner now !

What's for dinner? Cod, Parsley sauce & vegetables here 😊

I agree, I forgot that brief synopsis lark after the intro, it's really annoying.

I forgot to ask, have you a "favourite" Narrator? I particularly like Raph Ineson.
