Sir Jimmy Saville

No thread about this on here, so I thought I'd start one.

My starter for ten is this: Okay, I'm not saying anybody is making anything up, but why did all these people wait till he was dead before accusing him of all this stuff? And quite frankly, now he's dead, what can come from it other than tarnishing a reputation that was spotless and upsetting his grieving family even further. Seems basically wrong to me. Why does someone always have to bring down our heroes and role models? They should have done what they're doing now ten years ago or not at all if you ask me.

Re: Sir Jimmy Saville

We will have to see how far it goes,i,m sure some of these other names being put forward as abusers are a smokescreen to cover up establishment figures including politicians and others.

Good luck to Tom Watson, even knowing that his personal safety is at risk,I would not be surprised if some try to defame or destroy his credibility

Re: Sir Jimmy Saville

I was a teenager in the great heydays of screaming fans - lots of the DJs and pop groups enticed us young things to go to their hotels for parties and high jinx.  But if anyone was creepy and mauley my friend and I would run a mile.  And there were plenty of them who were.

I think we got away lightly compared to these abused girls from that same era.  These were young and vulnerable and seemed not to have the choice of getting out of a situation which seems to have affected them for the rest of their lives.

If it brings them peace of mind to have it all dragged up in front of the media, I doubt it.  I think that the smell of the Saville millions might be at the bottom of them grieving at this late stage.

I think its a shame that a man who can be revered one minute and shamed the next is dead and cannot be called upon to answer to these charges himself.

Re: Sir Jimmy Saville

I,m not sure that some people realize how serious this is,this is a comment from MP Tom Watson's blog:

"Some of those powerful people involved in a cover up may well have been – and could still be – powerful politicians.I’m not going to let this drop despite warnings from people who should know that my personal safety is imperilled if I dig any deeper. It’s spooked me so much that I’ve kept a detailed log of all the allegations should anything happen" There is something seriously wrong if an elected MP feels threatened

there is an epetition up on the directgov website for anyone who might like to sign it:http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/39312

Some people might like to email their MP to let them understand we don't want any more cover ups, people have to be exposed no matter what their position in society is,and I have no doubt some very powerful people are or have been involved in Paedophilia, this could bring the house of cards down,so be it,if that is what it takes

Re: Sir Jimmy Saville

joe.bloggs, I agree wholeheartedly with your post. Tom Watson should not feel threatened, nor should anyone who tries to expose paedophiles. The threats must be bad if he's voiced it, as not even the Murdoch empire scared him...

I was brought to tears yesterday sitting in my car in a supermarket car park whilst listening to a radio programme about paedophiles in Care Homes for children.

A 50+ man described how as a 10 year old boy who suffered abuse from his mother father and step father was sent into care for his own protection in Wales. Initially things were fine until he was moved out of a dormitory location to his own room. Long story short he described his horror at discovering 2 men hidden under his bed - after he thought he had locked his door from the inside - who both took it in turns to rape him. His graphic description of this event was beyond upsetting to listen to. This went on for years with people working in the home and outside of it. He had been married for 24 years and had never told his wife and this was the first time he had spoken about it publicly and by the end he was about to break down by the sound of his voice. A very brave man indeed.

Eventually when I composed myself to get out of the car, I thought how has man physically evolved so much, but emotionally can still be so depraved to treat children in this way. It seems to me people like Savile and their ilk are just the tip of the iceberg.

Re: Sir Jimmy Saville

It has always been thought, that MI5 , knew and used to their advantage , certain information about the abuse of young people, in the NW & Wales and other childrens homes, by some very prominent Politicians, Civil servants and other leading figures.

It is this , that Tom Watson is worried about.

As I have said since this started, I hope it finally blows open , the cover up of the abuse that took place before & during Thatchers Government and the information hidden by BLiars 'D notice' on the press of their own investigations, during the Public inquiry into the abuse .

And the investigation into the Jersey childrens home needs to put into the hands of People , with no links to the Channel Isles or the establishment and residents of those Isles.(another cover up|)

Re: Sir Jimmy Saville

'by some very prominent Politicians' -

At the risk of being dragged off to the Tower, 'names in the frame' from my friend at Westminster are currently Willie Whitelaw, William Waldegrave and Michael Portillo.

These are just the current crop from the Thatcher era, with more from that era and possibly others to follow.

Of course we all know about the late Lord Mountbatten's 'involvement' in the boys' home scandal in Ireland in the 70's that was covered-up in the UK.

Re: Sir Jimmy Saville

Lord Mountbatten being linked to Kincora, was a very successful , black propaganda  operation , carried out by the Provisional IRA. Instead of a massive media success for them, in the US, for killing him, his murder instead caused outrage.

Something had to be done and linking him to a Child abuse case in Northern Ireland, is what they came up with, some conspiracy theorists even , say MI5 killed Him, because he was going to talk about Kincora.

Since the outbreak of the terror campaign ,Mountbatten had stayed out of NI , specifically because He had a holiday home in the Republic.

I just had to post in agreement with others who applauded Joe_Bloggs' post at 162.

I don't think the top dogs will ever be routed out, they have to much power, but maybe this can be a strong warning and a wake up call to anybody in power thinking about how easy it would be to molest young girls and boys who are strapped into a hospital bed.
