There's reports in the news about over 300 schools being closed due to snow and lots of them are primary schools. Years back, there was "The Village School" with the school teacher living in a house either attached to or right next to the school. All that being so, the kids didn't have very far to go to school and the teacher was right on site, nowadays lots of really young kids are bussed many miles to school or driven by their parents.
It was a mile from home to the primary school I attended and in the Winter I remember walking to school in the tracks of the milk lorry. There was very little absence as I remember.
Closing the village schools and having large, almost impersonal primary schools so I think that wasn't a good idea, what about you?
