Romance Fraud?

I've just seen in the news that a woman has lost £113k in a "romance fraud"???? That's only the latest one, there's been loads of other cases where people have been scammed.

Surely, surley it shold be very clear that the absolute moment any talk of money crops up that there's no "romance" at all from the point of view of the "perpetrator"?

I don't know about the rest of the people on here but I get so exasperated at the stupidity of people who "fall victim" to this sort of thing?

Some people are so gullible.  I can't imagine why someone would send so much money to someone they have never actually met, especially when they must be aware that scams have happened to other people - they are in the news every year.

Very sad that these online criminals play on loneliness. I expect it has been more prevalent in lockdown?

Nice to see you posting, are you any better?

Perhaps loneliness does play a part but like you said, haven't they seen the news about scams?

By what I've read and heard on tv what we hear about is just the tip of the iceberg.A lot of people are too embarrassed to tell anyone and sometimes their families don't find out until after they die.

I understand people are lonely and vulnerable at times and maybe enjoy sharing mails with someone.

I don't understand how anyone can say they love someone that they have never set eyes on or send them vast sums of money, and they don't seem to be stupid people, I've seen doctors, teachers etc falling for it.

Romance Fraud?

When I was a kid, my father used to speak about some (supposedly "educated") people who did daft things by saying "Head's bulging with brains but got no common sense at all".

After living life I've found that to be soooo true!

Romance Fraud?

That's very true.

I wonder where they find all these thousands of pounds to send to strangers.

it still amazes me today just how gullable people can be and sadly, when it comes to romance or love, i think people are at their most vulnerable and sumbags pray on that, you only have to watch judge judy 🙂

Sadly, i just don`t know where common sense has gone over the last decade or so and i blame app`s, because people can`t seem to go to the toilet without one nowadays!
