Seller protection for collection only

Hi, first time posting, hope this works and is posted in the correct board(?)

We are looking to sell a large heavy and expensive item (over £1000). It would have to be collection only. We were thinking of accepting PayPal as it means we don't have to deal with such a large amount of cash and potential bartering etc. and also explaining that it will be demonstrated working on collection. Are we opening ourselves up to being scammed? For example Buyer saying it doesn't work etc. and claiming back through PayPal?  Could they do this with cash on collection? If they were to claim a refund would they have to return it ...and at their own cost? What is the best way to go about listing it for maximum seller protection? Many thanks in advance

Seller protection for collection only

Buyers still have protection for collected items if they use Paypal or any payment online via ebay.   That's not the case with cash so that's your best bet.

paypal is`nt a good idea for items that are collected, because you leave yourself open to claims for not received or chargebacks. collected items are`nt supposed to be protected, but it doesn`t stop people trying and winning in some cases, so cash only, or they can do a bank transfer in front of you if your not comfortable with large amounts of cash.
