Rolf Harris

Today in court Rolf sang part of Jake the peg and demonstated how to play the digeridoo, tomorrow he might do two little boys.

She presumably no longer lives at home, so would have to meet them somewhere on the journey.  Kudos to her for being so supportive throughout.  It has been a long old haul, day after day in court.

Not supportive enough though to allow her therapist records to be opened to support her father's defence - unless of course they didn't support him which would suggest she knew the truth of what happenned - in which case she deserves no kudos at all 😞

Or ... maybe she wanted a shred of her own dignity kept intact.   She has committed no offence, but details of her life and relationships have been exposed.
In her cirs, would you have stood for the prosecution rather than the defence?  She must feel betrayed by both parties.

Perhaps I'm trying to be too logical whilst looking at what was a situation full of emotions.

I look at it this way,  the girl, (best friend of Rolf Harris' daughter), accused Harris of assaulting her when she was 13 and allowed her therapist's records to be examined by the court to support that claim, which they did.

His daughter also underwent therapy during a similar period.  Now if she knew nothing about any such assaults or they had never happenned then you would expect her therapy records not to mention them and would support her father's denials.  She however refused to allow those records to be examined which suggests to me she was either not supportive enough of her father to put his freedom above her own dignity - or - those records did indeed contain mention of the alleged assaults which if they were opened for scrutiny would be damning for her father.

Either way unfortunately I don't think she really deserves any kudos as you put it.

Caution - sorry forgot to answer your question 😞

If I believed my father to be innocent in such circumstances then I would do everything to defend him, even if it was personally embarrasing.

If however I knew him to be guilty or believed him to be then I wouldn't support him at all.

I imagine it is hard to be the only child of a very famous person.

I imagine it is even harder to be in that position when your father is accused of sleeping with your best friend, amongst other crimes abhorred by society.

I imagine leaving court yesterday and progressing down a walkway jam packed with photographers and the world's press whilst gripping onto the hand of the parent who had just been found guilty and is about to be imprisoned was incredibly difficult.

I imagine living with the aftermath will be horrible.

She has done nothing wrong ... and all this has landed on her plate.

And from all of this, even though any victims may feel that justice has at last been done, they still have to live with it all - there never really is any release for any of them - including his extended familty.

Except that it is strictly forbidden to do so in court - by anyone!

This may be the case but surely doing so shouldn't lead to exclaimations that such actions are sad, creepy or bizarre!!!

Ordinarily no but when you are on trial for offences against the people you are sketching then yes it is creepy.
& if it was to pass the time that also suggests to me that the man was not concerned about the seriousness of the trial!.

Agreed !!.............If it was me and my freedom and reputation was on the line, I'd be paying rather close attention to the proceedings to be honest. Still, he can doodle all he wants now.........plenty to draw in prison.

As others have said..........................

It is bizarre that, in the midst of such a serious issue, he chooses to do something that may come across as if he has gone into denial by sketching those in court and not pay attention to the trial at all, (Clifford chose to take the proverbial out of a television reporter behind his back).

It is creepy that he thinks he can do this and get away with it - he still thinks the law does not apply to him - maybe even an attempt to put witnesses off, and sad that in the midst of all this, he cannot even spend a thought for how he may come across to his family who were solidly supporting him all the time.

Well I have a disposition where I notice much that the media do to attempt to influence the audience, this means I notice the way they try to hype stuff up by using emotive words such as worryingly, shockingly, bizarrely etc. I like to decide for myself whether someone's actions are worrying or shocking, I don't appreciate media sources trying to tell me how I should feel about something and therefore I tend to pick up on such emotive words when I see them.

You may indeed find Rolf's actions creepy or bizarre, I just wanted to suggest there may have been other explanations.

My sentiments exactly, I have said before in these cases , no one wins, the accusers will never regain their lost innocence, the accused guilty or not have lost their reputation forever, & the families of both sides also suffer the consequences as well,
I do find it strange however that the public think they know these so called celebrities personally , even their own spouses apparently didn't !.

Will they?

If a Not Guilty verdict had been returned & Harris had sold his story to the press, that would be ok, I take it?

Seems that you're not the only one, Sam.

The sentence of five years and nine months has already been referred to the Attorney General's Office under the "unduly lenient sentence scheme".

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28163593

As it stands atm, the judge ordered that he will serve half his sentence in prison, 2yrs.10.5months, before being released on licence.
