I am one of the few who will admit to watching "I'm A Celebrity" but I have not started this thread to discuss the show... rather more the type of reality celebs that are created by todays Television programmes.
They become role models to the young and impressionable, who now think that becoming famous is a valid career choice.
Take Joey Essex who has been in the Jungle.
Now... I have never ever watched TOWIE (thank goodness) but he takes denseness to a new level.
In the Jungle we discovered that:
1. He can't tell the time with a big hand and little hand, and thought those watches were just a fashion statement.
2. Can't tie shoelaces.
3. Makes up words, and thinks it's cool.
4.The First World War ended in 1979
5. Seriously doesn't know how to blow his nose... honest!! he was never taught.
6. Can't count - erm! or add up, or subtract.
7.Can't spell.
On the plus side he is really lovely, and will try to please everyone, but my pet dog is lovely and faithful, and tries to please too.
This is not a rant at sweet cute Joey, more at the Media who turn these vaccuous airheads into Celebrities. He is one lucky boy...
Because from what I have seen, he and others of his ilk, are virtually unemployable.

Ronny ... Would it be true to say that these are the kind of people that have rich parents and will never have to make money of their own? They will just buy shoes with velcro fasteners, always wear digital watches and dictate any letters to a secretary. I dare say that they are fluent in text-speak though, lol
ps .... and if you think about it, every word in the English language was made up at one time.

I am sooooo glad my children are now grown up because I would hate to think they were taking in anything from the so called celebrity role models of today.

Hi Ronny, must admit i watch it as well, dunno why? possibly seeing Amy in the shower
What i don't understand is most of these "Celebs" well off, dont need the cash, why would they want to live in the jungle for three weeks?

I think some of them do have rich mums and dads and do not have to do anything!!!!!!!!!. Just sit back relax, go to Beauty salons every day, or own one and dont have to work there just employ others and get richer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. take trips to Vegas and America or Bora Bora or wherever.
Some of them are ok though and want to help others or work and are nice genuinley.

He's been exposed as a fraud, hasn't he
Sure I read it is all an act to get more attention
BBC just announced Ripper Street is being cut, a disgrace
due to not getting the required viewing figures, Maybe if they didn't put it up against, one of the TOP 'reality' shows might have helped

That's exactly what I'm talking about Tommy.
This Joey, and his ilk, are paid thousands to be seen as airheads. (which they are) But they become revered and admired for it by the young, and upcoming generation. innit. Shame on the media.

Unfortunately due to the way that nonentities are publicised for simply existing with very little basis for their fame, the media have created a situation where youngsters aspirations are simply to be famous without needing to make any effort in life.
There may be some connection with the PISA results, why work hard at school when you can become rich and famous without that?
