Question about cricket

On the England shirts, what do the numbers mean under the 4 lions?

At one time, I thought it was the number of times that each of them had played but that seems to have got kicked into the ky-bosh

Any ideas?

Ta muchly.

Question about cricket

I thought it was their player number - i.e. if the number was 432 then they were the 432nd player to have played for England.

upthecreekyetagain is correct, according to the ECB website... Each England player is given a chronological number to signify their position in the order of players to appear for England in Test and ODI cricket. This unique number is carried on all their international kit.
