Paypal woes

As i'm getting desperate - does anyone have any ideas as to how I can resolve this?

I went to log into my Paypal account and got to a page which said "Security Prompt" with the PP logo and, as I've just seen a tiny text box much further down into which I could type war and peace without making any difference.

Something is clearly not working but here's the rub

Paypal have blocked all means of contacting them unless you are logged into your account.  The help pages just deal with what happens if you've forgotten your password or email address, and it's let me change my password - but still cannot get the security prompt to do anything.

My mobile phone number is up to date and recently checked.

I've managed to post on the forums only to get an automated email telling me how to change my password or email address or contact Paypal by logging in.......................... etc etc

Surely this cannot be legal?

I cannot access my funds, or close my account even.

Any ideas at all?

Paypal woes

I've mysteriously solved the problem - but just don't ask me how.

It appears that, after much fiddling with my adblocker (it wasn't blocking anything and paypal.com is on my whitelist) and refreshing and all sorts of other things along the lines of "try switching it off and on again" that weird little text box turned into a box where i clicked to confirm i was not a robot.

Sometimes I wonder if it might be nice to be a robot and to not have to care about dumb things that won't work.

I bet R2D2 would have solved it instantly

Anyway, I then had to click 6 boxes that had a bit of a bus in each one and finally I got in.

so if anyone else is out there and finds this because they're having the same problem - just keep turning everything off and on again and if that doesn't help - try booze.

Paypal woes

I call it "Stuck record syndrome".  I have no idea why it happens on this modern digital stuff, but it's like old vinyl when the needle jumps in the grove and repeats...and repeats... and repeats.

I often see threads, presumably started by people too young to remember vinyl, wondering why their photos won't load, they've been asked to sign-in several times or got stuck in some sort of loop.  Invariably when this has happened to me (who understands very little of this techie stuff) I've found the answer is "Do something else".

If photos won't load, write the description.  If asked to sign-in more than once, read the community boards for five minutes.  It's the equivalent of turning off and on, (I think), just like rubbing a cloth over a record removed the bit of grit causing the jump.
