found this on the teckie thread from Otherego
I'd suggest: Update your antivirus and run a full scan - remove any nasties; Install, update and run Malwarebytes free edition - at least a quick scan - full scan if that finds nothing. Remove any nasties. Install, update and run AdwCleaner - remove any nasties found (usually necessitates a restart.) It might be worth seeking expert advice, or following the advice on a site like bleepingcomputer.com to fully rid your machine of problems. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ http://malwaretips.com/blogs/how-to-scan-with-malwarebytes-anti-malware-2-0/ These will give more information. Unlikely to be directly eBay-related - some adware nasties only seem to work on online shopping sites. All the usual suggestions apply - make sure you're using a limited user account, ensure that your operating system is fully patched, ensure that all third-party software is fully patched, and so on.

Tommy, dear heart - we're trying to ejookate folks into first running scans and making sure their equipment is clean because the problem could well be malware - before applying a blocker.
Look at it this way - if you stepped into some doodoo which went up the side of your shoe, would you then just get the shoe polish and cover over it?

Tommy's answer, now probably rendered inadequate, stems from the many complaints of the increasingly irritating adverts on Ebay however there have been during the past few months more complaints of a type that suggest some sort of infection has become a common cause.
Those who have adblock of some other similar software installed should still check if malware has crept in and not rely on the fact they see no obvious evidence of infection.

I agree that an malware programe should be run first.. I use an adblocker and dont get any malware at the moment ..we talked about this sometime ago and people were getting bugs from the adds and utube..
