Now we have a Police Officer charged with misconduct in a Public Office:-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-25101706
As to the possibility of other officers and charges, the wording is significant.
It says "Insufficient evidence". Now that means that the DPP thinks that there is insufficient evidence to charge anyone and have a realistic chance of sustaining a sucessful prosecution.
What that also means is that there WAS some evidence but not enough. Had there been NO evidence, the words chosen would have been exactly that, there's NO evidence.

I still think Mitchell did call PC Rowland a **bleep** but yes, it's over.
Strange how Mitchell never repeated the word he did use, if it wasn't **bleep**...
He was after all Chief Whip and they are used to lying through their teeth... ooops I'm being very cynical.

Does this video blow out the water - all those carefully worked out Tory 'time lines' that 'proved' his innocence, based on the edited video shot fron the other end of Downing street ??

No, what it does is to prove that the cops were lying about several things.
At the time of the exchange, there was one disinterested-looking bloke who was too far away to hear what was said. After Mitchell had gone, several people appeared to gawp through the gates.
Although there's only the word of the cops against Mitchell using the offending word and his word that he didn't, the conduct of the cops was so bad that four were dismissed from the force and one other was jailed so in the circumstances surrounding the affair, in the light of the proven misconduct, a jury (should such a case have gone that far) would (should?) be more inclined to accept the word of Mitchell than a bunch of proven liars!

Unfortunately we seem to have moved, from a Police Force whose job it is to uphold the Law & collect the evidence, to one that seems to think is OK to fabricate the evidence & circumvent the Law. There's far to many people in this Country, who suffer from delusions of grandeur; they think they're a cut above everybody else, they don't know their place & forget who put them there............and why !!

The Police in this country are completely out of control.
Lying about Mitchell, lying about Hillsborough, showboating over Cliff Richard, persecuting Mr&Mrs King, oppressing freedom of speech by journalists and Twitter users etc, while ignoring Muslim r*a*p*e gangs, NHS nurses killing people, 'honour' crimes, etc.

And they hardly come up smelling of roses in the recent Rotherham scandal either.

Libel cases thrown out
Judge decides the Police Officers were telling the truth and Mitchell did use the expletives and also did used the P... word
This would have been an event that would have been done and dusted in Days, if the Police Federation in London hadn't tried to score Political points

It's hard to believe that such a stupid little affair could cause such a hooha for so long and cost so much money.
Surely someone from either side, somewhere along the way (near to the start) could have said it was just getting silly and should simply be ended.
27-11-2014 6:34 PM
Yes, you're right. Mitchell should have realised that as for who said what, it was his word agains the cops and really, it wouldn't matter which way the judgement went, there was no REAL evidence either way. I think the judge was wrong to decide the matter on the balance of probabilities but that's how it is with civil cases.
It transpired that Mitchell did have permission to use the main gate if he chose to go that way and the cops on duty were wrong to stop him.

As far as I'm concerned, it was a Politician ( people who are economical with the truth to get what they want ); against the Police ( people who are economical with the truth to get what they want ).............Do I care ?......MMMMMmmmm...........NO !!

above should have said
'would have been a NON event' ....... if not for the London Police Federation
Fallen Angel and everyone else ----- Should remember the sackings etc, all came from the Police Federation in London, trying to use this incident (after the fact) for their own political purposes
Where does this leave Conservative Central office & Mitchells right wing MP chums - who spent loads of time and l;oads of money- on PROVING that Mitchell couldn't have done it - knowingly using EDITED versions of the cctv tapes
One of the reasons this was so Bad, was the timing , coming so soon after the murder of the 2 WPCs up North
Just shows even more that the Political elite,
DO THINK they are better than the rest of Us, this includes the Islington champagne Socialists (eg Emily Thornberry)
