I was going to suggest that you'd be better posting this on the eBay.fr forums - but they have absolutely nada in the way of social chat or suchlike as far as I can see - just business.

ABOUT 3 HOURS AGO Legal experts: Religion 'cannot override medical need' Legal experts have said it is "unlikely" that the parents of missing boy Ashya King had committed an offence by taking him out of hospital - but warned the legal system would not permit religious beliefs to override the medical needs of a child. Prof Penney Lewis, of King's College London, said it was possible the child could be taken into foster care if they are found and refuse to cooperate, but more likely than not it would be dealt with in the courtroom, with a judge giving consent to a procedure.

Why have the parents been arrested? What has it to do with anyone else?
The boy is reportedly terminally ill and his parents wanted him to spend his last days with them and his family in a nice place. Not dying in an NHS hospital.
Big Brother State interference again.

Yep, I bet the little Boy is happy now........Parents arrested, Siblings in a foreign Police station ( probably in tears ), last holiday with his family wrecked...........BRILLIANT !! The state definitely knows what's best for you, spending your last days wired up to machines, in a hospital bed, staring up at the ceiling...........God save me from EXPERTS who know best.

The way I think the thought process has gone is......
He's a child and those responsible for his welfare are supposed to "seek medical attention" if the child requires it. The child in this case is unable to ask for anything for himself and has little knowledge about what's going on around him. That he may be terminally ill is neither here nor there and not seeking medical attention could help see him off.
If you're terminally ill, no matter whether well meaning people might see treatment as "prolonging the agony", you're not supposed to help them on their way.
If someone is terminally ill and unable to make any decisions for themselves while receiving "end of life care", you're not supposed to remove that care if it means an earlier death......... and so on.........
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

Today is Sunday, right? The kid disappeared from hospital on Thursday, yes? Now, I'm delighted that he has been found safe and well BUT ....... how much of a news hungry frat bottom mads it his duty to say on the news on Friday's BBC headlines that his battery for his medical equipment would run out on Friday night aight and that he would die. That guy deserves shooting. Then he deserves to get fired. Then he gets divorced and anything else that you can think of.
I don't mean for any harm to come to the guy, obviously.

What a weird country we live in.
A pair of loving parents take their dying child overseas, and the Police chase them, arrest them and suggest they should be charged for ignoring their 'duty of care'.
Thousands of NHS nurses ignore their duty of care to their patients and kill them (Stafford, Furness, Basildon, Tameside, etc) and the Police do nothing.
Thousands of parents take their daughters overseas to have their genitals mutilated and the Police do nothing.
Scores of parents complain that their daughters are being drugged and raped (Rotherham, Derby, Oxford, Rochdale, etc) and the Police do nothing.
Someone suggests that a pop star might have touched him thirty years ago and the Police jump to it, bring in the BBC and raid his home.

The parents of five-year-old Ashya King said they took their son out of a hospital in Southampton to seek proton beam treatment - a procedure not available under the NHS. proton therapy Protons treatment centre at the university hospital Dresden, Germany. Credit: PA The proton beam therapy is a highly-targeted type of radiotherapy with a lower risk of damaging the surrounding tissue and causing side effects. It works by sending charges into cancer cells, with doses of radiation aimed directly at the tumour. The therapy is used to treat hard-to-reach cancers located deep within the body and close to critical organs and body structures, especially in children and young adults. Patients needing this type of radiotherapy in the UK are sent for treatment in the US, according to Cancer Research UK. There are several proton beam therapy centres in Europe. Ashya King's family said they would seek the treatment in the Czech Republic. Two £250 million NHS proton beam centres are currently being built in the UK. The facilities in London and Manchester will offer the therapy to up to 1,500 cancer patients per year starting 2018.

Before we get too excited about this new treatment, it’s important to point out that it’s thought that only around one per cent of UK cancer patients could be suitable for proton therapy. There’s also a lack of hard conventional evidence to prove that it’s more effective and kinder than conventional radiotherapy.
