I was going to suggest that you'd be better posting this on the eBay.fr forums - but they have absolutely nada in the way of social chat or suchlike as far as I can see - just business.

ABOUT 3 HOURS AGO Legal experts: Religion 'cannot override medical need' Legal experts have said it is "unlikely" that the parents of missing boy Ashya King had committed an offence by taking him out of hospital - but warned the legal system would not permit religious beliefs to override the medical needs of a child. Prof Penney Lewis, of King's College London, said it was possible the child could be taken into foster care if they are found and refuse to cooperate, but more likely than not it would be dealt with in the courtroom, with a judge giving consent to a procedure.

Why have the parents been arrested? What has it to do with anyone else?

The boy is reportedly terminally ill and his parents wanted him to spend his last days with them and his family in a nice place. Not dying in an NHS hospital.

Big Brother State interference again.

Yep, I bet the little Boy is happy now........Parents arrested, Siblings in a foreign Police station ( probably in tears ), last holiday with his family wrecked...........BRILLIANT !! The state definitely knows what's best for you, spending your last days wired up to machines, in a hospital bed, staring up at the ceiling...........God save me from EXPERTS who know best.

The way I think the thought process has gone is......

He's a child and those responsible for his welfare are supposed to "seek medical attention" if the child requires it. The child in this case is unable to ask for anything for himself and has little knowledge about what's going on around him. That he may be terminally ill is neither here nor there and not seeking medical attention could help see him off.

If you're terminally ill, no matter whether well meaning people might see treatment as "prolonging the agony", you're not supposed to help them on their way.

If someone is terminally ill and unable to make any decisions for themselves while receiving "end of life care", you're not supposed to remove that care if it means an earlier death......... and so on.........

Today is Sunday, right? The kid disappeared from hospital on Thursday, yes? Now, I'm delighted that he has been found safe and well BUT ....... how much of a news hungry frat bottom mads it his duty to say on the news on Friday's BBC headlines that his battery for his medical equipment would run out on Friday night aight and that he would die. That guy deserves shooting. Then he deserves to get fired. Then he gets divorced and anything else that you can think of.

I don't mean for any harm to come to the guy, obviously.

What a weird country we live in.

A pair of loving parents take their dying child overseas, and the Police chase them, arrest them and suggest they should be charged for ignoring their 'duty of care'.

Thousands of NHS nurses ignore their duty of care to their patients and kill them (Stafford, Furness, Basildon, Tameside, etc) and the Police do nothing.

Thousands of parents take their daughters overseas to have their genitals mutilated and the Police do nothing.

Scores of parents complain that their daughters are being drugged and raped (Rotherham, Derby, Oxford, Rochdale, etc) and the Police do nothing.

Someone suggests that a pop star might have touched him thirty years ago and the Police jump to it, bring in the BBC and raid his home.

In the video, Mr King told how they had wanted to leave the hospital because the NHS could not fund the proton beam treatment that they wanted for their son. 'We couldn't take it any more - not knowing and not being able to question anything in fear that they say, "Sorry Mr and Mrs King, emergency protection order, you're no longer allowed in the ward",' he told the camera. 'Under that stress, our son has grade four brain tumour, we couldn't discuss or question them at all in fear that our son would be in that ward all day long by himself without his parents being able to come in. 'We couldn't be under that system any more. I was going to get the money to pay for the proton beam therapy but they have prevented that now because the Spanish police are involved and I can't do want I wanted to do.' 'But straight away afterwards he went into what's called posterior fossa syndrome, which means very limited moving or talking or doing anything.' He continued: 'Proton beam is so much better for children with brain cancer. 'It zones in on the area, whereby normal radiation passes right through his head and comes out the other side and destroys everything in his head.

The parents of five-year-old Ashya King said they took their son out of a hospital in Southampton to seek proton beam treatment - a procedure not available under the NHS. proton therapy Protons treatment centre at the university hospital Dresden, Germany. Credit: PA The proton beam therapy is a highly-targeted type of radiotherapy with a lower risk of damaging the surrounding tissue and causing side effects. It works by sending charges into cancer cells, with doses of radiation aimed directly at the tumour. The therapy is used to treat hard-to-reach cancers located deep within the body and close to critical organs and body structures, especially in children and young adults. Patients needing this type of radiotherapy in the UK are sent for treatment in the US, according to Cancer Research UK. There are several proton beam therapy centres in Europe. Ashya King's family said they would seek the treatment in the Czech Republic. Two £250 million NHS proton beam centres are currently being built in the UK. The facilities in London and Manchester will offer the therapy to up to 1,500 cancer patients per year starting 2018.

ABOUT 3 HOURS AGO CENTRAL Mum whose son had proton therapy supports Kings PROTON_INTERVIEWBrightcove_Central_VideoPlay video Ros Barnes, a mother from Leicestershire, sympathises with the parents of Ashya King, who said they took their son out of hospital to seek proton therapy treatment abroad. She told ITV News Central that she didn't agree with their decision to remove him from hospital, but certainly supports the family in terms of their belief in proton therapy. Her son was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in 2008 and underwent proton therapy in Florida when British doctors told the family it was not available on the NHS. Ros says it saved her son's life and he wouldn't be here now if it weren't for the pioneering treatment.

To: Police, David Cameron and Co To Whom It May Concern, My name is Ethan Dallas, I am an ordinary citizen living in Portsmouth. I am sending this email to urge the British Police, and all relevant authorities, to call off the circus surrounding the parents of cancer patient Ashya King, and let them free immediately. These parents want the best for their son, they want nothing more than to offer him the best possible chance of a normal life and had to take drastic measures as, it would appear, that the NHS would not allow them to seek the treatment of their choice for their young son. It is sad to see these ordinary loving parents being accused of neglect - for wanting what's best for their own child! I thought in the UK it was legal to seek private healthcare if you were willing to pay for it and do not see why a consultant with absolutely no blood or legal ties to this child or his family should be able to demand a particular course and disregard the parents wishes. I urge you to find it in your heart to release these parents and let them be with their child at this terrible time and to allow the parents to seek whatever medical treatment they see fit for their sons recovery. I ask you from human to human to seek good will in this case & act in the best interests of Ashya King & his family. Sincerely, [Your name] 4000 have signed this so far..

Before we get too excited about this new treatment, it’s important to point out that it’s thought that only around one per cent of UK cancer patients could be suitable for proton therapy. There’s also a lack of hard conventional evidence to prove that it’s more effective and kinder than conventional radiotherapy.
