Immigration. Points system?

Are you in favour of a points system? If so, why so?

Me? No. I think that before any other factors are considered, several fundamental issues should be satisfied.

At the top of the list should be a good standard of spoken English and a "reasonable" standard of written English. Then, a definitive acceptance of the British way of life, behavour and dress.

Really, if you can't satisfy those fundamentals, why the heck do you want to come here?

OK folks, what have you got to say on the subject?

OK Creeks......I have a suggestion for you. I read in my newspaper this morning of a family from the Congo...parents with EIGHT children..(my previous post about family size limitation is very relevant here), who live in this country and are whinging, moaning and complaining that the FIVE bedrooms house they have been allocated, free on the British taxpayer, is not big enough. They say they have been neglected....they are in such a state of indignation it's unbelievable. The mother does not work..the latest child is a babe in arms. The father is here to study MentalHealth nursing and does not work. He should get out and get a job, and pay for his own desired accommodation. My grand-daughter is also studying to be a Mental Health professional, and also works very hard in every minute she can for the Police Force. Cases like this make so blerdy angry...and then we have people who criticise people like me who dares to say that we do not want the likes of these people here. If you want to help these people, why don't you offer to put up these ten ungrateful wretches at your home? What would you do with them? Next year they will probably have another child...he seems to be very good at that. They have an exaggerated sense of entitlement and outrage and expect everything they WANT free, without exercising any responsibility whatsoever. I know what I would do with them....ship them all back where they came from, and see how they like the accommodation there.

sorry if this sounds like a rant...but that is exactly what it is. Reading that put me off my porridge this morning and sent my BP soaring.

So Creeks.....what would you do with these people, and others like them. Will you have them to live with you? Or give them some cash to pay rent on a bigger property..while the father sits on his backside? I refuse to be made to feel guilty because I do not want the likes of these immigrants here.

Fine - select an individual out of the millions, probably billions who are in real need and imply that they are representative of all.

I can find you examples of British born individuals who abuse any of the available benefits you care to mention but that wouldn't show that the vast majority of those in receipt of benefits are making fraudulent claims!

You posted, "We humans should work in harmony for the sake of our planet and for the sake of Humanity, but where resources are scarce the selfish gene comes into play".  I was agreeing with you - this selfish gene is very much demonstrated when it comes to the idea of sharing the resources, services and wealth that we have with those who have so little.

Re: Immigration. Points system?

Creeks...I totally agree that we have British born people who abuse the system too. But they are our problem...they were born here and it's our lax system that has allowed this abuse. But these immigrants are not our problem, they were France's problem until they decided to come here. You haven't made any comment on where you would house these ungrateful people, or how the country is going to cope in future with the housing and health needs of their offspring, and the thousands like them.  Nor have you commented on their thoughtless over breeding. The 'caring' attitude shown and voiced by you and others like you, including the Labour Party is typical...all tears and wringing of hands and self righteous indignation , but not one practical suggestion as to a solution.

We all know that the resources of this Earth are unfairly distributed, and that is a matter for Governments, I would help anyone in 'need' in any practical sensible way that I am able, but not those in 'want', who don't help themselves. There is a difference.

I didn't say that this family were representative of all immigrants, I know that they are not. I used that case to highlight the fact that no-one seems to be taking a long term view of immigration and we need to stop all immigration now. And also to show that some of these people have an exaggerated sense of their own entitlement, but no sense of responsibility or a duty to help themselves and give something back.

So.....what would you do with this family? How would you handle them?

Re: Immigration. Points system?

Not in favour of a points system, I think that would mean very few are refused entry, less than are already refused.

Even in the small town I live in we are seeing big changes, less green fields, more and more housing.
