Hello. I received an email from Paypal on December 10th stating that my Paypal account was limited. I was requested to log in and provide identity documentation. I have been using Paypal for over 10 years and have never previously been asked for this information. I initially thought it was a spoof email, but it turned out to be genuine. I provided the documentation requested on December 12th. The account is still limited and I have not received any information from Paypal about why the account was limited, or why the provided documentation has not been reviewed yet. I used the online support chat on the Paypal website, but the CS advisor was unable to offer any useful assistance. Is there a phone number? As I can't seem to find one publicly displayed on the Paypal website.
The limitations have effectively rendered the account unusable, as I am blocked from sending or withdrawing money through Paypal. I consequently can not buy or sell any items on eBay. Should I complain to the FOS? It's my understanding that when a bank or financial provider closes a customer's account or imposes such limitations, they are required to inform the customer of the reasons the decision has been taken.

Yes, there is a phone number.
Log into your account. Top of the Home Page select HELP > CONTACT US scroll to the bottom of the page to the various options. If PHONE isn't there and CONTACT US is there again, repeat. A phone number will show up eventually!!
I've never found that finding anything is easy on the PP website.
But be warned, when I've read their boards there are frequent complaints that it's difficult to get an answer, mixed with other comments that seem to indicate others got through to an agent easily. Probably due to Covid and who (if anyone) is in the office that day.
Good luck!

I received an e-mail earlier today, supposedly from PayPal, telling me that my PayPal account had been suspended. However, given that the e-mail was sent to an e-mail address that I have never used with either my eBay or PayPal account, I just blocked the e-mail and then deleted it straightaway without even bothering to open it.
If you're at all concerned as to whether your PayPal account has indeed been limited then log into your PayPal account and check whether everything seems OK, or alternatively contact PayPal's UK Customer Support Team on 0208 080 6500 or 0800 358 9448 and speak to somebody at PayPal about the matter to find out whether or not your accont really has been limited in some way.
