Well I remember King George V1 and I was at school when the headmistress called the two classes (I went to a small village school) to attention, stood between the classrooms and simply said "The King is dead".
My mother had seen Elizabeth when they were both in the ATS and whenever she was mentioned used to remark that "she bent down when the men were passing". Ladies just didn't do that back then but I think my mother was being a little over-critical as they were wearing baggy overalls at the time 🙂

Yes it was quite surprising to hear the sad news about the queen passing away. I really thought she would easily hit 100 but 96 is still a very good number to reach. Even so, it is very sad that she has left us.
Have to say, i`ve never been a big royalist at all, far from it, but respect where it`s due, she was an incredible woman, no doubt about that. God bless her and sincere condolences to her family.
